You only get what you give by The New Radicals drives me insane for no apparent reason.

I'd forgotten about that, and yes, I hate it.

It was made worse by a weird media thing that made out the bloke was some sort of modern day musical genius.

A bit like how they always go on about that bloke in the La's

For those young people who have never had the opportunity  to hear what us ancients had to go through, I dare you to listen to this dross:

1.Disco Duck (Top 10 1976)

2. Long haired lover from Liverpool (No 1 1972)

3. There's no-one quite like Grandma (No 1 1980)

4 Convoy GB (Top 10 1976)

5. Cinderella Rockefella (No 1 1968)

Someone must have loved these but it wasn't me.

I think these are all crying out for a John Lewis advert breathy young female vocalist with sparse acoustic arrangement style cover.

Has anyone else done that Cinderella Rockefella track? I know the song but I don't remember it being quite such a difficult listen

Couldn't really name many songs I actively hate, generally it'll be because it's something that you've heard overplayed I guess.

I think "baby shark" and "the crazy frog" are probably the only 2 songs that I'd actively walk away from so I didn't have to hear them lol

She's electric (loads of other stuff by Oasis but we'll keep it one per band)

Mr Brightside

Anything by Bloc Party, but probably this modern love

I predict a riot

I personally wouldn't consider Hey Jude in the top 10 best Beatles songs, nowhere near in fact, but it's not a "dull" song in fact the lyrics are to inspire and provide a positive outlook for the person that it was written about (not fvcking footballers, believe it or not). I'm sure anybody can hear the lyrics are very positive, so I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion it's "uninspiring" unless you're only relating it to a bunch of footballers which in itself is weird.

Rant over I guess.

Oooh, I could add more Beatles tunes if we went top 20.

Not the best band ever.

Not the best band of the 60s.

Not the best band that starts Bea.

It's a kind of poor man's Waterboys, but weirdly more successful than anything they ever did.

I have a loathing of Imagine by John Lennon closely followed by Wonderwall (and I love early Oasis)

and anything by these "earnest" young singer songwriters you get these days that all sound the same

I didn't mind the song before but the bastardisation of Sloop John B by unoriginal football fans puts it into the list. The fact is, if they hadn't recorded it, we'd never sing that.

Sweet Caroline, definitely. Hideous.

Number 2: Any song that demands communal dancing.

That boat song where everyone sits on the floor.

That song where everyone does things with their hands and turn to face walls.

The song where the person to the left faces right and the person to the right turns to the left and they have to make a punching movement, as hard as possible, about head height.
