It's cemented my opinion there's a good number of people who don't watch for the football but rather for the narrative like it's a TV series. A huge symptom of COVID football.

Combination of English over-sentimentality and the mediatization of English football. See also the England national team and Southgate 'changing the narrative'.

Villa playing in their pajamas.

They don’t seem to bother with domestic cup competitions

Good start for Potter atm .

Looks like Wycombe will be knocking Portsmouth out which really wouldn’t be a great surprise tbh .

Shirt sales and all that, yeah I get it, but Villa play West Ham and neither is wearing Claret and Blue?

Oh wow that’s nowhere near being a corner!

I know var isn’t in use tonight but that was clear and obvious yet it wouldn’t get involved. Absolutely absurd.

how quick would it take to say to the ref “no it came off player whoever  - goal kick”

We probably needed West Ham to have yet more confidence knocked out of them.

A few injuries, a defeat.

This score or more would be good for us.

You have to say, with West Ham's injuries making them rely on Danny Ings for a while, they are in deep trouble.

Some facts: At least a dozen of times Villa played through West Ham's midfield the same direct pass creating chance after chance. It doesn't matter if you're a manager for 2 hours, 24 hours or 3 months, if you can't see this and stop it right away you're simply an incompetent football manager.

Potter has absolutely no clue about managing a game in real time like 99.9% of British managers.

It’s incredible isn’t it - especially given the wealth of British managerial talent you can find online.
