Good article that. Can’t ask for much more from FT than that tbf. Just need to keep bringing it up at these meetings so the club don’t think it will just pass with time.

Perhaps the singing section can start singing I'm still standing or any other relevant songs.

Credit where it’s due for the Trust on this one. It’s great to see them changing their stance on this issue.

Our campaign raised the issue at the AGM in March and the Trust have subsequently got to this position.

For us, it just shows that when you have the right kind of people influencing the Trust that it can start to represent the interests of the wider fan base (again, something we have pushed them to change their perspective on). A glimpse into the kind of tone and approach the Trust could be showing more with the right people involved at the top of it.

How difficult is it to actually implement? Are we talking a dozen workmen over a weekend or a section closure for a month?

Can't be that difficult surely. Presume it's not the actual installation that's the problem, it's the decision makers.

Its not the physical implementation, beyond cost, that is preventing this happening. Rather the headache it gives to the club in moving season ticket holders who neither wish to move or be forced to stand, as well as the security concerns Personally feel it should be done regardless on safety grounds,  if nothing else, but do understand the clubs reluctance.

not disagreeing with your point but the whole notion of someone not wanting to move because it is "their" seat is ridiculous. If the club say "we want to use this section for safe standing - you can either take it and stand OR move to another part of the ground" then they should be able to.

I think it is just the math we have 3000 away seats, 23000 season ticket holders and 3000 hospitality seats so pretty much 29000 paying spaces accounted for out of a potential 32000.. That leaves maybe 3000 paying spaces to play with spread over 4 diverse areas of the ground and probably 12 cost/sales opportunities. Displacing say only a thousand disgruntled customers and relocating to somewhere amenable is not so easy. Southampton did it at substantial revenue reduction wait until you see the numbers. They had more spaces to play with which helps. I think it’s more about revenue loss in the challenge. To me make the rear rows of the Kop safestanding. Ask people to register and prepay by say March 31st. Thus you know how many rows to install. Come up with a 2 year incentive for those displaced. In the away end first 5 rows seated rest safe standing. 10 year ban then for anyone standing in a seated area. Probably the best you can do and the club get ear ache from someone whatever they do.

Clearly the club can force season ticket holders, as  I indicated That does not mean though that it does not give the club a problem.

Also your wish to stand should not trump others wish to remain viewing games with people they have shared the experience for over 20 years.

The decision for me should be based purely on safety grounds not on the wishes of a small minority who just want to stand.

The club are more than happy with disgruntled fans when it comes to issues like £25 charge, refusing the mental health flyers, ticket prices etc but for some reason when it comes to moving people out of seats which they do not own, they seem to grow a moral compass

Haha, quite. The long and short of it is if they want to do something they will, if they don't want to do something they won't.

You think the club are bothered about pissing a few fans off? They don't give a fvck about fans.

Charge £25 for an actual card for season ticket holders.

No general sale for tickets.

I guess you think that don't piss people off or is not important.

They do as they please to show us who's in charge. If they wanted this but fans didn't it would be done.

The only reason they have meetings with fans is because they have to. But only have someone from the club that can't answer questions. Then when he reports back it's dropped in file 13 (the bin)

Nothing will ever get done/happen  from these meetings unless it's enforced by the EPL EFL. or the government.

Our owners really have turned into what I expected from the start. It's not about the club it's about them. Long as they get to bring the Thai nobodies over to stand on the pitch when we lift a pot.

Our only hope for safe standing is if SGSA get on the clubs back...not sure we have enough standing for that, or new owners with more of a connection to the fans...in other words don't hold your breath.

I won't be holding my breath for these.

Since Vichai's passing they really have gone from best to the worst. Top really doesn't give a toss about true fans and what we want. Long as his fan boys n girls from Thailand are happy.

As I've said they really are turning into what I expected from the start.

Next will be the name change. He will try it in the next couple of years.

I really wish he would sell up n fvck off. He really is souring what his father did for us.

I'd rather have a new bunch of cvnts from the start than Top continue like this.
