I've been on and off the fence for the last 7 games, today's lineup made me feel sick given Spurs play a high line and can't defend. Today Ruud made some decisions I disagreed with such as taking way too long to make a change on the left, and bringing Daka on a bit sooner. Still, overall the players showed more fight today than the last 7 games combined, and seeing how they reacted to Ruud at the final whistle, it's clear the majority at least are very much happy to work under him.

Do I think Ruud can do a job and build us back with a points deduction and no budget should we go down? The Jury is out.
I feel we are suffering with an issue Maresca would have had also, where the football we want to play works at big clubs with better players, but with our lot, and with an injury crisis in key positions, I've been disappointed that Ruud has stuck with the same system pretty much week in week out, it really did strike me with flashbacks of Maresca refusing to change even when it wasn't working. Today it did.

Am I confident this is a corner-turned? No. But as I've said even when I've flip-flapped between Ruud out and Ruud in, there are few managers I want to see turn it around more than Ruud given how much I liked him as a player. I need to be more measured going forward, in 3 days this weekend I've been Ruud in, Ruud out, and Ruud in again, this is an emotional season with everything that's going on, and I should probably reflect on being less reactionary going forward, we desperately need signings, but if the players apply themselves how they did today, and Ruud continues to grind out results, I'll be happy to take a punt with him should we go down.

We as a fanbase need someone to get behind, at Sheffield Wednesday, Danny Rohl has created somewhat of a bubble with himself, the fans and players, and they have a siege mentality whilst the circus of an owner and board are doing everything in their power to undo progress, we need the same here, for the mess Top and Rudkin are creating, we need RVN and the players to put all of that aside and do a Neil Warnock on the pitch. Ruud took a big step towards getting a lot of fans back on board, we need to continue this.
Absolutely zero passengers Ruud, "no Christmas presents" and a siege mentality to fight for the badge.

I do struggle to see where the necessary wins come from looking at the fixtures but something to build on.

The last two home games were a huge missed opportunity.

Better PPG (0.875)  than Cooper now (0.67)

And with 7 consecutive defeats in a row as part of that... history will not be kind to the Cooper "era"  :nigel:

While i like the sentiment i dont think that's right. Ruud has 7 points from 10 games, Cooper had 10 points from 12 games, so Ruud has 0.7 ppg and cooper had 0.83. To be clear i still prefer RVN.

7 points from 10 games is 0.7 PPG, cooper was on 10 from 12 which is 0.83 PPG?

I thought Cooper was 10 from 15 games?  Ruud 7 from 8?

No?

I stand corrected.

No?

No, unless you're counting Coopers cup games and forgetting the two ward games for RvN.

At least Peter Taylor's 8 game consecutive loss record remains intact.

And Ruud does a better Norman Wisdom impression, too.

Anyone watching close enough will have seen positive changes in the way we’ve been playing - even in the run of 7 defeats - under Ruud.

There’s been a growing better defensive structure to us - we certainly tried to defend higher up the pitch today - and have been conceding less shots against us.

What’s been letting us down has been our attacking play - it hasn’t been incisive enough - and that could be said for our first half performance today too.

But you could see a massive part of that was down to player confidence and second guessing passes / over trying; which made it very nice for Spurs to give us two guilt edged chances in quick succession early in the second half.

Hopefully this win gives that shot of confidence that can mean we see improvements in our attacking play in the weeks that come.

Well, I guess the trolls will crawl back under their bridge until we concede the next goal? (Written in hope rather than expectation!)

FWIW still *way* too early to judge RVN. I agree with others who note improvements in organisation, even during recent defeats. Also with Vards that we've played well in halves, but have lost confidence after conceding. That changed today, so I'll take that as a cautious positive. Let's see how he integrates any new players.

Changes nothing unfortunately,  clowns above him are still running the circus.

Until that changes we are fvcked.

Crikey that's bleak :-) Minded to agree on said "clowns", but there's still a decent chance we can stay up!

They better back him and bring in the players he needs.

If they don’t then RVN won’t be at fault! It’ll be the club! Rudkin, Top et all.

it’s sad to say but we’ve been in decline since that helicopter crashed. 😢

There has been shades of O’Neill in his early time here, at the time questionable appointment, has come in and reshaped our style of play, results haven’t been great and then when on the verge, gets a backs to the wall away win (MON beat Wolves).

let’s hope this is the start of a real resurgence and we start to pick up much needed results and points to pull away from the relegation places.

As a fanbase we can get behind Ruud. The guys a winner with a strong character and I think we'll avoid the drop on the last day of the season.

Everyone whines about Mavididi, they whine about BDR, Ayew, Vardy but unfortunately apart from Buonanotte we don't have anyone else and he doesn't have any defensive attributes.

Mixed views on this.

Looking back both Vichai and 'Top' have previous on letting things spiral! We gave Sven, Ranieri and Rodgers the players they wanted and extended contracts of others at their behest. That's how things got out of control.

Nige/Walsh and Puel/Macia's spells buck the trend. They're the basis of our periods of success. What do they have in common? Structure and nous. Credit where it's due: Vichai appointed them. IMO the most damning reflection on our KP era 'board' (including Rudkin!) has been what's happened when these strong characters didn't have a hold of the reins. Sporting decisions have been a s**tshow.
