With all the slagging off of RVN or Steve Cooper, it's worth remembering the so-called manager who started off the rot.

The fraud who brought the over-paid under-talented likes of Daka and Soumare to this club.

The idiot who thought it would be a good idea for the FA Cup holders to drop Schmeichel for a 4th round FA Cup tie away to our local rivals.

The bore who in his 4 and a half years inculcated this club with "lighweight possession at all cost, sidewards and backward mentality"

We had a decent spell in the first half of 2019-20 ... until we struggled to a draw at home to bottom club Norwich, and then Man City and Liverpool absolutely took us apart.

That showed we weren't as good as we thought we were, lost confidence, and after that we were never the same again.

I think Ruud has always needed support from the board especially with regards to the players....to matey with Top and disrespectful to managers. Player power is a massive issue that needs stamping out. Ruud doesn't have the support of Top, who is more interested in being best mates with the players.  Respect and discipline is an issue

Got to have the players pulling in the same direction as the manager no?

Ruud talks a good game, but maybe/clearly he’s pissing in the wind here if he can’t get the players to even listen

What we waiting for?

Until the end of the season, probably have a break clause in the contract of we get relegated which reduces compo.

Players soon see though a someone who hasn't got it.

Maybe he's just a crap coach and manager.

Firstly, these players don’t respect the badge and the fans. They play like they have absolutely no interest in giving us a show. They are all diseased, contagious and should be removed, save for Hermansen and a coupe of others. Hold on to Hermansen at all costs, make him the captain and build with fresh faces.

I'd happily get rid of all of them except Hermansen, El Khannouss, Fatawu and the academy lads.

But RVN should be the first out of the door.

I’m not sure who’s in charge of this team now or who should be.

Is it Harry Bassett, Mike Bassett or friggin Bertie Bassett?

Perhaps Bertie would be best.

He talks a very bad, already defeated game with added buzz words/statements that don’t actually mean anything. It’s no surprise he’s lost the players.

Given he has dropped Winks from the squad and taken Vardy off at half time he is either engineering his own demise or desperately trying to regain some control. My guess would be the former. Reckon he could be gone after Monday

I agree, he’ll go after Monday.

Newcastle have the type of player to really hurt us so I’m expecting a heavy defeat.

The crazy thing about all of this is we have a manager who has lost how many consecutive games and most without even scoring yet I'm not even arsed whether he's sacked now or not. That's what the club have done to me. He obviously needs to go but he's probably 5% of the problem at the club so anyone expecting a miraculous upturn in standards once he's gone are going to get a Ruud awakening

As poor as the results and performances are, RVN isn't the biggest issue.  Not even close.

People might say that if Maresca or even Cooper had stayed we'd be better off, or if we sacked RVN and brought in this manager or that manager then things might be different.  I doubt it.  Maybe we would have scored a couple of goals here or there but we'd still be far from safe and relegation will still be a certainty.

There is no upward trajectory with this club until there is a complete overhaul of the playing squad. It's rotten to the core.

RVN might not be the answer, but he can't polish a turd and has to work with the tools he has.  Get rid of him and the next guy will have all of the same problems, maybe they would be able to get an extra 10% out of the players, but these players giving an extra 10% is still nowhere near good enough.

Whoever the manager is next season, even if it's RVN, they need to plan and be backed for a multi-season project to get to where we should be.  And that multi-season project will be a difficult thing to watch for at least two transfer windows, regardless of who picks the team.

Whoever is still defending RVN at this point...look at yourself in the mirror. Is Your family taken care of in the way they deserve to be, or are you the kind of person who always makes up excuses, blaming everyone else but yourself?

I don't think anyone's defending him. But pretending he's the only/main issue is naive and why Top and Rudkin keep getting away with their negligence running of the club

The problem is and has always been the owner, the board and the DoF, there's no structure or planning in place.

A good manager will give you a good season, but long term it'll never work because the tools and the structure isn't in place to continually continue the success year after year. When you're signings constant crap players on high wages, the best manager in the world will have a ceiling with them, because the club is essentially holding them back.

We can't even get a proven good manager due to the board either, no-one wants to work under them for this club, as previously seen when Potter, Moyes etc. wouldn't touch us.

You need a manager like Pearson, Puel or Enzo, who will demand changes and not let the club just dictate what they do. Normally this is backwards thinking and it should be the other way round, but those in senior positions at this club haven't a clue, so we're relying on the manager doing it.
