Newcastle fan here - no confidence going into this game whatsoever. Lurker on your forum this season after Cooper was brought in - always thought he's a Walter Mitty, never employ someone the FA employed! Wout Faes' thread has been great reading as well!

We probably have the slowest CB pairing in the 92. Pope is injured, so probably Dubravka is playing - we lost Pope last season for a good chunk last season. Imagine him as a Slovak Danny Ward!

If you imagine 'cans and celebration' outside St James' when we got the takeover, this is probably the lowest ebb and confidence in Howe ever. FFP has fooked us, since our takeover a 'select PL group' (American owners) have moved to make it near impossible for our ownership to bridge the gap to even Spurs. There is a horrid pattern that's becoming of Howe's team on the pitch - we couldn't break down Wimbledon at home, we are just meh. We are playing exactly like Howe's Bouremouth side did in PL, foundation season, 2nd is score loads of goals, then can't balance the ship and eventually relegated... That was Bournemouth/Howe's experience - if we're not at least in top 10 end of season, Howe is gone, if we are even dragged into relegation by Feb Howe will be gone.

Fortunately you’re playing a poor Leicester City side with no fit midfielders.

I think you’ll be fine

We have a midfield of Bruno, Joelinton, Tonali - but get dusted over or can't break down time and time. I'd want Howe to start Lewis Miley - he was thrown in last season at 17, and was still best midfielder in big games Sunderland (A), PSG(A) etc

Who the hell will your midfield be?

No offence - outsider looking in, Ndidi relegated you, and WInks Skipp are offcuts from a team that can't get top 4. That's a 3 that will relegate you again.

I don't understand what the KDH is doing at Chelsea?

KDH never wanted to leave.....it was a we'll scratch your back with them getting marresca to get both Chelsea and us under the PSR thing.

I think Bilal will drop a bit deeper alongside Skipp. Maybe even go to a 3 at the back. He needs to go with the box midfield all working their bollocks of behind Vardy i think, with the fullbacks providing the width.

                            Hermansen

             Faes      Vestergaard      Coady

Justin            Skipp              Bilal            Kristiansen

            Buona                             McAteer

                                   Vardy

Mavididi, BDR, Daka, Ayew, Okoli - the new bomb squad for the last 20-30mins.

Gonna be interesting this one, Ruud boys first away day. Be interesting how he will play it. Hopefully just go at it from the off, Newcastle are fragile right now and I think if we are going to win it, it'll be by hitting them early. Not sitting back, trying to play it safe, and waiting to concede first (aka cooper ball).

The same as the minteh is doing at brighton  …….

Ahh - but not the same reason we sold Elliot Anderson to Forest £35M and brought Vlachandh Greek 3rd choice keeper back for £20M. - Just to strike an even on PSR, because we'd already fukyd our balance sheet - hence why we sold Wood to Forest for massive money, and why Shelvey went to Forest and straight to Turkey on his contract.

The whole system is default and corrupt. No longer will a club bring through players and have them win something alltogether

I have pure hatred for that because our ownership could have solved this before it became an issue.

No idea who’ll play in midfield. It will probably be Skipp and Hamza, which is reasonably dreadful at this level.

There were plenty of reasons why we were relegated that were higher up the list than Ndidi, which I won’t list now as I don’t want to revisit the trauma

Dan Burn and a creeking Fabian Schar?

The pace in Newcastle's defence relys on Pope crashing out and booting it beyond the Sun!

Pope's injured, our best CB is still crocked - we've got Slovakia's greatest GK that couldn't save a grain of sand.

Howe will probably play our best academy grad in last 15 years - Sean Longstaff! - he will play a Jacob Murphy who was binned off his loan in low Championship. He's always been the worse brother, Josh is good at Pompey.

Now Wor Amanda has gone, PIF don't give a toss if Newcastle reach 12 - LIV Golf, Saudi Pro League y Ronaldo, Boxing, World Cup.....Newcastle.

We can raise that with a Coady Coady/Jannick Vestergard dynamic duo lol

Harvey Lewis Barnes is an odd one. Clearly, clearly a brilliant finisher and has been unreal when introduced from the bench. But whenever he starts a game, he simply cannot impose himself on it. He's got the pace, the intelligence and his finishing is some of the best I've seen. He's had opportunities to impress, but hasn't done enough to hold down that starting position ahead of Joelinton or Willock.

I'd be open to selling him, IF we can get roughly what we paid for him (£30-40m). But I doubt he'll attract that kind of money now. No point in loaning him out unless they'll pay his wages + a fee (which is unlikely).

Best thing for us is keep him, use him as an impact sub, and just tell the Premier League to shove the PSR rules up their arse.

Barnes is a player who needs the flow of momentum to be on his side. He is devastating in a team that attacks in the transition. He’s a powerful runner with a wicked right foot. He’s never going to be about precision and finesse, he’s power through and through. He’s a rare kind of player these days, but he can be so devastating if the style of the football compliments his traits. Gordon will always be a better option as he has more about his game, and Newcastle are a team full of technically gifted players.

Id take Barnes back in a heartbeat however, he’s exactly what we need this season.

Our defence is a massive issue, we concede a lot of chances, and we’re liable to conceding poor goals. If weren’t get anything at all, you’ll need to have an off day in front of goal, and we will have to turn the game into a battle.

We’re still learning about life under Ruud, things are looking better and there looks like an actual plan, rather than whatever confusing shit Cooper was serving up….. but like any transition it takes time, and I feel like this may be one of those days where this shows.

The midfield match up will be so one sided for this, our only hope is the pack the low block and pray for a break or two. Can see this game being muck and us sneaking a 1-1

It's becoming clearer to me that the Vestergaard horror show in the relegation season was predominantly down to the way Rodgers set up.

He's looked a different player ever since Rodgers left.

Vestergaard didn't play one single minute during the relegation season.

I think we will give them a good game today, players should be well up for it, think Hamza and Skipp will have a point to prove and will give us a lot of energy in the middle.

Think we can sneak a win, less pressure away from home as well and with the previous two results we should be up for it.

Odds of 17/2 for a Leicester win. The bookies clearly think this is Newcastle win all over.

And that's how we like it.
