The email said nothing about any loan or help

I don't know where this info is coming  from

That info is coming from staff employees who shared it. It was sent in a follow-up memo that went out to staff. An excerpt from that follow-up memo was since included in Percy’s article.

May not have gone out to all staff, to be fair.

If that's true it really is bad on a lot of people. Especially the person who made the decision.

Most people's wages in the UK are paid by BACS (over 90%). It's cheap but slow. You have to fill in two dates when you create/send a BACS file. A process date and payment date. It's like 3 working days including the day you submit the file.

Even if people disagreed with the decision and tried to stop it. They'll have known days ago people were not going to be paid today. There's no reason to wait till the very last minute if it isn't human error.

If anything like this happened where I used to work and people incurred charges from their banks for something that was our fault we would pay it. Or issue Faster Payments to correct it.

Interesting. That has always seemed like too much effort for us so my wife and I get paid on Monday but as far as we are concerned, that in January’s money and we don’t touch it until bill go out and we are into January. It’s the same reason I have never bought into the ‘long January’ thing as you get paid the same amount each month and it’s a case of budgeting.

So whilst I condemn the clubs actions and wonder why they can’t manage to make the payment etc, I have said from previous work in the social housing sector, it always concerns me if people are using essentially January’s salary and spending this in December because what about January? But my concern there comes more from personal experience of people who would spend January’s rent on Christmas and then be in arrears and debt as a result. I hadn’t considered people would just bring bills forward to be fair. Presumably you could get any charges from the bank overturned by evidencing your employer were t**ts?

Getting into the realms of personal finance advice here.......But not really any effort, you can change the date via an app.

The main point being there will be myriad reasons why pay date is important, to change it within 20 hours is ludicrous.

I sure you dont mean it but it comes across a little condescending. Unfortunately not everybody is in the same position as you and your wife. Some of those staff live hand to mouth.....single parents, lower wage scale etc.....at the end of the day the issue is they were clearly told they were being paid today yet suddenly that changes...its not acceptable

They just have time to put this right.

I send BACS payments all the time. Send the file on Monday and it will clear into the relevant accounts on Christmas Eve.

It’s like a challenge at the moment, when you think they can’t sink any lower King Power are “Hold my beer….”

Does anyone still get these? Never worked for a company that has given one.

This year is the first time in a long time (Covid years aside) we haven’t got one.

It’s got tough out there.

Any update on the Xmas bonuses?

They have all been enrolled in the jelly of the month club.

This LCFC lee anyone of any merit, or just one of them Twitter accounts known for making stuff up and claiming to be ITK. One of them where if you throw enough at the wall, something eventually sticks.

Seems quite weird that someone at King Power pushed this through when our interim managing director, who is also from King Power, wanted to stop it

Had to have been someone high up?

They getting really fed up with what Top is doing with us and having to get more involved?

Who the ****s Monika?

A rhetorical question I'm sure. But you're right.

If people didn't know before (and if they didn't, on what planet do they reside?) she's an absolute nobody. A puppet. A strawman. Red herring. Patsy. Whatever.

King Power don't want anyone with a brain meddling in their filthy financial dealings. I'd hazard a guess even the strange little man who we call Top doesnt know more than a fraction of the myriad of layered financial chicanery that KP operates.

My input was more to say we might not necessarily be going the way of Sheffield Wednesday which has been suggested!

Sorry but I suggest we could quite well be going the same way as Sheffield Wednesday, and this is the start.

I also suggest that Susan Whelan knew what would be coming down the track and decided it was time to get out.

I'm mighty confused by King Power influence if we aren't owned by them. Is Monika a KP appointment? Was Whelan battling this sort of stuff and had the clout to push back.

I think we took loans out against future premier league payments too, around the time we signed Viktor Kristiansen.

Money well spent!

I think our chansiri times are ahead

Our situation has many parallels with Rangers, who (happy to be corrected) sold their gate receipts for the future years in order to pay today's bills.

Surprise surprise, they ran out of money having given up the gate money. And ofc went bust.

Whatever is happening inside those weird Thai parlours that KP inhabit, I think we see the chaos very very soon. The moment it becomes evident we aren't getting promoted, we will be in the end game.

Edit; frankly it'll be a relief. We've a great brand (tbf thanks to KP) but it needs new energy to take us on. Even if we start next season on -20

Yeah definitely. I have consistently said it should be condemned and understand people situations are different. I guess my point way, due to my previous line of work, my mind goes to people spending over their means etc, so was acknowledging that your point was an interesting one as it introduces another side, where people are spending within their means but have made chances accordingly 👍
