Rugby hasn't attracted much foreign investment in the UK for a reason, unfortunately. While crowds at the bigger clubs are reasonably healthy, issues like the wage cap and lack of TV money/exposure mean that we're unlikely to see a Manchester City of rugby any time soon.

As exciting as it would be to see an absolute dream team of the best South African, All Blacks, Irish and French players playing at Welford Road, there's a myriad of reasons why it won't happen.

Tigers are a PLC they are always for sale, you buy over a certain percentage of shares and you can force a take over

Absolutely, however as Tom Scott and Peter Tom own 55% of the shares, then no matter who bought the 45% (in the immeasurably unlikely event of them becoming available) the true custodians would retain control.

As i say Rugby is NOT football and matches are - for now at least- sporting contests not a secondary event to making money.

I don’t think it would be imminent.

Unfortunately it would most likely be in a situation where the hand is forced.

I’m sure this was considered a couple of years ago?

A ground share was discussed as an option, I don’t think it was ever anything more than a discussion.

Out of interest what makes you think Tom and Peter wouldn't be open to selling? Or that they are actively trying to sell it as we speak?

To be fair I dont think he has said they are open to selling.

They are both custodians of the club, the sale option was explored in 2020 and the primary reason for withdrawing the offer was that prospective investors did not share the same vision going forward.

Now of course things may change but if both refused offers back then for this reason (and others) then the likelihood of them suddenly selling to any of the shady EPL crooks is at best unlikely.

As l keep reiterating rugby - thank goodness- is not football and not entirely motivated by money, power and prestige.

sorry mate you are talking rubbish the only reason they took the club off the market is there was no interest, if someone offered them their money back and to clear the debts they'd sell

I feel the same when the idea gets mooted about that they should invest down Grace Road. No thank you.

Ironically, LCCC could be a better investment for them. Pour money into Grace Road, or even a completely new site, and build a Test standard ground there. Get the odd test or even ODI or T20 fixture, and build the exposure. Call it the King Power Oval or something else godawful.

Won't happen, but it does seem more sensible than investing in the Tigers.

especially if you could get an Indian superstar player over for the T20 part of the season or something

Well, your opinion, everything l read said it was about the future direction, not just money.

Another way of garnering big exposure.

Indian superstar player in the T20 for Leicestershire, fill the ground and then the odd T20, ODI or even Test game and enjoy exposing King Power to the subcontinent - arguably an even bigger market than Europe and probably easier for them to break into if they have the brand recognition.

I'm not sure Top ever walks away from LCFC, his last memories of his dad are at the ground.

I think his too emotional attached to let it go, I suspect he only walks away of he runs short of money

Sorry to burst your bubble but they absolutely want shot of it....they just can't find a buyer. They're doing everything in their power to get to break even asap so that it can attract a buyer. A great example is the fact they are raising prices despite losing fans/falling attendances.

At the end of the day they are business men who have an 'asset' costing a lot of cash.

As for what motivates Rugby.....dare I point you to the recent goings on at the very top of the English game.

Can’t see Top selling any time soon

I think if we can survive this season, then we might attract some interest.

The issue is, if we go down, a good chance we’ll be asset stripped, so what are you buying?

They literally had Rahane this summer for the 50 over games and nobody turned up.

The trouble is I can’t see us stopping up

I think there’s still enough about the club where we’d find a buyer but king power are so ingrained in absolutely everything, it’s hard to imagine him giving it up.

we need fresh ownership, the club is so stale.
