Because Steve Cooper couldn't spot young talent if it walked up to him and tickled his scrotum?

It wasn't him who loaned him out, though. Assuming we're talking about Alves here.

He should have recalled him when Fatawu got injured, frankly. Abdul was just about the only bright spark up to that point.

Alves was still here when Abdul got injured.

Was he? I thought it was a season long loan.

Makes it even more bizarre that Cooper didn't look at him then.

Yeah he only left on loan a few weeks ago.

This football club is mental.

So both Cooper and RVN looked at our wingers being about as lively as Ann Widdecombe on ketamin and decided that Mavididi AND Alves couldn't improve the situation while Fatawu was injured? 😂😂😂

And what a fantastic defence in court that is.

LOL this makes me wonder what Cooper’s cum face is? Someone needs to ask Martyn Glover or Rudkin who presumably saw Cooper’s reaction when we signed BDCR and Ayew.

Mavididi had a run in the team and was useless.

Like watching a Leicester counter attacking goal of old that!! Just what I want to see

absolutely, he goes past the guy on the halfway line without breaking sweat, just a little dip/swerve, very balanced runner, looking forward to seeing a lot more of him. WBA loan did Barnes a world of good, hoping for same with Alves

Barely had a run in comparison to what was offered to Ayew and Reid, and when he did feature he has been better than both.

In a team with no right winger meaning he was doubled up on at all times. Often he was the only player in the opposition half.

I don't judge him this year as the set up from both managers means he was doomed to fail.

This happened a lot in the Championship last season too, allowing Fatawu to have the run of the pitch and it was often palmed off as Stephy having a bad game. Other times it would be Abdul that more men to take on leaving Stephy room to express himself. It worked so well last year!

Not really, it's BEK by miles.

Much, much better footballing brain.

Much better team player, but needs to add more end product, which could be down to being surrounded by muppets.

FB number in a poor team, were pretty good, when he was getting minutes.

Still, if we had a decent manager who could have harnessed both, and Fatuwa (if fit), we could have done something this season.

Enzo managing:

Vards

Mavididi, Facundo, BEK, Fatawu,

Winks, Ricardo

JJ, Vesty, Faes

Mads

No injuries all season, next stop Champions League.

That side would have still finished below Wolves.

If we go into next season with him, Stephy, Fatawu, McAteer and even BDCR as our wing options I’d be happy.

I can’t see a single thing that Reid offers at any level.

Can’t beat a man, no physicality, genuinely not sure that he can kick a ball properly so hardly a Sharky replacement either.

Some on here rave about Fatawu. He really is only average. Probably good enough for championship but way way short of PL quality. Same goes for Mavis.

With one of Ndidi/Soumare in for Facundo and a couple of decent defenders signed in the summer and we would have gave ourselves a much better chance. It wasn't hard to see what to do using Enzo's blue print.
