We could have this as potentially our strongest lineup on current players next season which to me doesn't look too bad. Something to look forward to I suppose. I put Skipp in there because I think we're yet to see his potential. I think he's been used as a scape goat for part of this season. He's had no real howlers or chances under either manger.

 

 

Basis of the team looks great but Wilf and Vards need to go ASAP.

If we keep hold of Stola, Bilal, Mavididi, Alves, Monga, Nelson Okoli, Coady, McAteer, Ricardo and Fatawu we will be in the mix in the champ next yead. How well we do will depend on If we can bring in a manager worth his salt and add a new centre mid and striker.

Yeah who knows. They should have smashed the league like they have this year when they spent £11mill on one player to be fair. Obscene for that level and they need to break 100 points as a minimum for their promotion not to be tainted imo.

 

But I understand that PSR becomes much stricter in the Championship. 
 

There’s a lot of average sides in the Championship though so it doesn’t take much to find yourself in the top half.

If we have an option to play BEK, Fatawu, Mavididi and Winks in the midfield. We should be aiming for the top 2. Still think Stephy will be better for his experiences this season. Fatawu has had no real experience due to injury and BEK is a talent. All three maintain the potential to be good PL pros and going into the championship with the 3 of them at your disposal means you are a favourite. 

 

Winks I worry about but he is a very good championship footballer. 

 

Whether we keep all three is another question. 

 

We do need a striker, a DM, a CB and full back. Aim for quality. No has-beens or stop gaps please.

In terms of DM, I honestly think Skipp will be fine at that level and he's still only 24. Given he still has four years on his contract and isn't PL standard, he isn't going anywhere. This might be an issue if we go up, mind.

 

We definitely need more CB strength in depth - Okoli and Nelson should be fine, but Vestergaard and Faes need shipping out with more mobile and reliable CBs brought in.

 

The striker is the biggie. Daka is probably done here psychologically and wasn't even great last season in the Championship. I think we could do worse than Louie Barry on loan with that CM partnership you mentioned feeding him. There was talk of us looking at Osario from Midjtylland on the wing, but I could see Francolino Djú being a decent striker from there as well.

I agree with that. I think with the right manager we will have a top 6 minimum season in the championship. Ideally top 2.

Skipp for me has a lot of potential, great pace and tenacity which is precisely what we need. He just needs the right manager ( we all do lol)

In the event we actually keep all of these, this is the elements of a team that gets us promoted:

Needs a reliable striker and most importantly we really need to put together a decent centre back partnership that's going to last us a few years. Two guys that can actually defend and who aren't afraid of a scrap. 

 

At least one of them MUST be a beast in the air, ideally both. 

 

If Nelson and Souttar can do that, great, but we probably want a better option than Souttar and Nelson is never likely to be dominant in the air. 

 

Normally I'm the first to defend the players that got us out the league last time, Winks and JJ for example I'd happily give a pass to for this year. But I just want Vestergaard and Faes out of the club at this point. They need to go.

You won't find a better centre back in the air than Souttar, similarly, if you want someone cultured alongside him, Nelson is your man. Could be a really dominant partnership.

Latest line-up klaxon - this will change numerous times between now and August!

 

GK - Stolarczyk. More than proved himself and arguably unlucky not to get back in the starting XI.

 

Defence - Justin and Coulibaly have the mobility to complement the wingers and are sound enough defensively at Championship level. Okoli has impressed in the little playing time he's had and Nelson has done a great job with Oxford.

 

DM - Skipp is 24, has decent pace and tenacity and could go well here in the Championship protecting the back four and supporting midfield.

 

Midfield - If we can keep these three and get in a decent coach, it's a promotion push. Mav and Fatawu were excellent at this level last season, and could be lethal in a system that utilises pace when supported by Coulibaly and Justin. Bilal as the creative outlet feeding the front two.

 

Strikers - Going out on a bit of a limb as we obviously have no idea of who we're looking at, but I'm working on the assumption that Daka will want out, Vardy will leave and Evans will still be too young for a starting berth. I've gone for Franculino Djú from Midjtylland, who is young and raw, but blisteringly quick. I doubt he'll break the bank either. With him, I have gone for Louie Barry. He did well at Stockport in League One and, while it hasn't yet happened at Hull, I get the feeling he'll thrive when surrounded by competitive players in what will hopefully be a promotion campaign.

 

Then it's all up to the manager to get a tune out of them.
