I’d take Antonio and Lingard on short term deals

Antonio yes, Lingard hell no. He's more interested in social media etc than playing football. We have enough bell ends in our squad without adding anymore.

I'm assuming you've missed that Antonio does a football podcast?  And a bit of punditry.

Yes but Antonio has always seemed like a decent pro. Lingard has been an hideous, unlikeable bell end his whole career. Plus he's not very good at football.

just out of interest, what has Lingard done to be so hideous and unlikable?

is it just his face?

Just everything about him. The stupid celebrations, the way he's more interested in social media than he is in actually playing football. He's just everything that is wrong with modern day football and I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club. We have enough issues within the squad with lack of effort, lack of professionalism and discipline, he's the last thing we need in our squad. Of course, this is just my personal view of him, we all have players that we like and dislike for varying reasons.

I don't think he's ever done anything controversial. Seems a bit immature, but people's reactions to him are over the top. He's had a really solid career.

I can imagine him doing a good job somewhere like Birmingham, but I'd rather not have him at Leicester now. We have enough experienced pros winding down their career.

Do you feel the same about Maddison and his social media use?  Or Fatawu and his?

plenty of others use social media a lot

Social media aside, I think he went down in many peoples estimations when he'd struggled for games at Man Utd for so long, then had a really good loan at West Ham only to go back to doing the same thing at Man Utd and ultimately going to Forest for the money and doing nothing.  Made people think he wasn't a serious player because he should have engineered a move to West Ham..  Although in fairness after his loan move there he probably thought he'd done enough to warrant more opportunities at Man Utd, but it also just looked like dropping back into his comfort zone.

I'm not saying players shouldn't use social media, it's a huge part of modern society, however some players clearly focus on things like this rather than their football. Lingard could have still been a decent player now, still having a decent career but he clearly has other things that he thinks are more important. That's his choice and fair play to him but he's 100% not the kind of player we want in our squad. We need leaders and model pros that will set the standard and help to improve the culture at the club, he'd do the complete opposite of all these things!

if you ask man united fans they’ll tell you he was actually known for training well.

he’s a bit of a melt on social media but to be fair so is half the country.

Tbf he was absolutely useless during his loan spell here.

Harry Kane didn’t exactly set the world on fire either.

He could discuss driving bans for being over the limit with Hamza.

Would Nige have looked to buy Lingard?

For the relegation battle to come, we need some steel, backbone, grit in our squad. Been missing for the free fall years.

We had Lingard for 5 games? He made his professional debut with us but he was still young and didn’t do a lot. That was Ferguson last season at Manchester United I believe.

Would we have purchased him? I guess if really depended on where he intended to play him. I’m not sure it was ever an option as from memory United saw him as really talented and wanted him to gain experience. Didn’t he then go to Birmingham as he couldn’t get into Moyes Man U team and average a goal every other game.

He’s been very streaky throughout his career but he’s got ability.

He’s also got a driving ban I believe so he’d need chauffeuring around like Hamza! Unless that is resolved since he’s been playing in Korea.

Slim pickings from the free list if we are going to knock a 35yr old Antonio.

1 name I could pick out which I’m sure will be slated is Allan Campbell, our Scottish fans will probably know him. Still only 27 and can play the DM/AM & box-box role & we need cover there & has a bit of grit about him.

He was part of the Luton squad that was promoted to premier league but got loaned out for that premier season as Luton signed a bit of experience like Ross Barkley so will understand what’s required in the championship.

Obviously not sure why he’s not with a club but doesn’t look to have had a bad injury or anything so might be worth a look, yes there might be fancier names but would need to be able to pick up straight away which he would I’d assume.
