Enzo was an inexperienced big risk but at least he'd been involved coaching in club football for about seven years prior including working in two stints at Man City who, like or loathe them, are superbly well run from a football point of view. 

 

Carsley has nowhere near even Enzo's CV and Enzo, again, was a huge risk. 

 

Carsley would need significant hand holding from a competent director of football that could just let him coach and even then what does he know about managing a squad through a league season? 

 

In any normal world, Carsley wouldn't be anywhere near the conversation getting any managers job in the Championship let alone one at a club expecting to win it. 

 

It's only because the English football world has this weird, fanatical relationship with the national team. If he'd followed any other England manager there wouldn't be the buzz, it's just Southgate plays such dour anti football that people think Carsley is master entertainer because he couldn't possibly have done worse. 

 

Insane rumour. 

 

On the flip side, if we want to grow the club again we need to take a risk of some kind. A  safe pair of hands might seem logical but we won’t be able to grow to where we aspire to be. 
 

Be careful what you wish for because the alternative is almost certainly going to be Martin

Carsley comes across as someone who doesn't like to be in the lime light, he always looked uncomfortable when doing media interviews. He's a nice bloke when he was watching his lad at Nuneaton Town, he's always friendly with supporters and happy to have a chat and do selfies and even stands with the fans. Proper down to earth. Takes the Leicester job... he won't have that freedom no more.

Taylor wasn't a bad manager, he was just crap at Leicester. The premier league was just a step to big for him.

The only reason I think Carsley is being linked is because Gary Lineker suggested him for the job on his podcast to replace Cooper. I'd be very surprised if Dumb and Dumber have even heard of him.

Wouldn’t mind Carsley from a purely footballing view but dunno if he’ll have what it takes to manage a club. As others have mentioned with Rudkin above him it would concern me greatly.

Rather different from the cacooned environment of the under 21 national side where you have the pick of best players without having to be involved in transfers or dealing with a DOF or board.

Carsley would be a terrible appointment and a risk that we don't need to take. He showed little with England team to suggest he is any good. 

 

We need someone who is a strong character, experienced and has shown they can work with existing players on a shoestring budget. 

 

Dyche would be perfect.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will meet with Leicester City bosses for discussions over his future this week, though it is understood that the club’s hierarchy have drawn up a list of possible replacements for the Dutchman.

 

 

 

Leicester were relegated last weekend after their 1-0 loss to Liverpool, with the Foxes having suffered 16 defeats across 20 league games since Van Nistelrooy was appointed manager in late November 2024.

 

 

 

And the dire situation at the club has forced bosses to compile a list of potential replacements for Van Nistelrooy, with Sky Sports reporting that former interim England manager Lee Carsley is a possible candidate alongside Danny Rohl and former Southampton boss Russell Martin.

 

 

 

It is believed that Van Nistelrooy will likely remain in charge until the end of the season, though there are doubts as to whether either side wants to continue after the end of the season.

 

 

 

In addition, any pay-off made to the 48-year-old in the event of his sacking could cause Leicester difficulty in meeting their PSR obligations for the current financial year, with the club having sacked Steve Cooper and his staff in November. At the same time, it is believed that the Dutchman is reluctant to walk away from the club having signed a deal that runs until 2027.

 

 

 

Reflecting on the season, Jamie Vardy has labelled the situation a “total embarrassment”, with Leicester having lost 12 of their last 14 matches in all competitions. The loss to the Reds also meant that Leicester became the first team in top-flight history to go nine consecutive home league games without scoring.

Carlsey would be a massive risk.

 

Enzo was a risk, but some of that was reduced by he's work with the Man City first team and Pep.

Let’s not forget that Carsley has been blessed with arguably the most talented U21 team of all time, not just English, not just in the world currently, but ever. 
 

I don’t think it’s fair to rate him higher as a candidate than Martin who has had relative success at 3 clubs in the EFL or Dyche who has won promotion several times with Burnley.

Under 21s is more about the coaching rather the managing

Didn’t want Carsley when Cooper was sacked as I thought it was too early for him but I was moderately impressed by his stint with England when he stepped in briefly, the players had glowing reviews for him when he left the role and some even took a subtle swipe at Southgate when comparing Carsley’s positive changes that he made around the place. 
 

Hes got massive knowledge and contacts with the best young talent in the country, could also massively help some exciting talent we have and bring through a new era for us with the likes of Alves, Monga, Nelson etc. 
 

I still think Carsley is a risk, but given the reset we need it could be a risk worth taking in the Championship, allowing him to rebuild the squad around Evans, Monga, Nelson, Fatawu, Okoli and other younger players like Mavididi would really solidify a proper foundation.

How can we not afford to sack managers, every time?

 

Why don't we stop spending on crap like 25m on Skipp, 60k a week on Hamza, 50k a week on Ward or 80k a week on Edouard? Save 3 or 4m, put it in a kitty and use it as an emergency for paying off a manager, it's not rocket science.
