Is that meant to sound like an endorsement of Rohl? Because it doesn’t :sweating:

Well yes, Rohl has kept them above water and without him, Chansiri would have sunk them.

That said, Watford’s owners are massively trigger happy so being sacked isn’t a blot on Cleverley’s name.

Must be nice have a board sorting stuff out before the end of the season and have a plan. Wonder how it feels?

With the points deduction/ fine back on the table ... we can only look in the ..... desperate for a job section .... who else would want the job with 1 hand tied behind their back before the even start ... I have an uneasy feeling it will be RVN until Christmas when everything has been sorted .... Happy summer

Surely it depends on the condition of that club? Is a manager, that wants to show himself in a good light for a better job in the future, going to risk taking a job on with a club potentially about to get a large points deduction, transfer embargo or very little to spend? What's happened to the reputation of the current manager? Are the people in charge of the club vaguely competent?

Think personally that there may be better opportunities elsewhere really.

This.

Multiple years of financial mis-management with PSR.

Stale and inactive board

Poor recruitment statregy

Not an attractive option for a decent manager

Didn't seem to do Enzo any harm.  Not too dissimilar to the negatives we had last time we went down and he's ended up getting one of the biggest jobs in Europe without managing a minute of Premier League football.

The compensation package halves for a Championship club, so we could be waiting for either Monday or the share to be officially transferred.

nah this club will just spend triple on a 32 yr old winger again

Sheffield Wednesday we're on track to be the worst championship side ever before Rohl came in and he's kept them up twice and even gotten them top half.

He has done an incredible job with a mediocre squad.

Really surprised that Will Still has had to drop to the Championship, don't get me wrong it will likely be a prem club in 12 months time, but given the work Still has done in France I'm surprised he has dropped down the Championship, i'd have imagined top flight clubs would have gone for him.

Or some useless guy from Palace who doesn’t even come anywhere near the pitch. Absolute banter club.

If Sunderland fall short today, what are peoples thoughts on Regis Le Bris?

That he’s not done good enough. With the January investment, I think they should have had a stronger push for automatic, they limped through the second half of the season and the Coventry play off.

Id stay well away from him

So Sunderland hire a relatively unknown foreign manager who gets them promoted in his first season in the championship.

Can’t see it catching on…..

While it looks like we’re hiring a manager who makes Ruud look like Pep in his prime.

The implosion is real. Predicted it on here when we failed to secure Champions League 2nd time round.  No credit required. Just sad that I could see then what would happen and those who run our club obviously could not.

Things will get worse. Eventually they will get better, but we are in the wilderness for a few years. I seriously don’t expect automatic promotion next season. This squad needs gutting and putting back together.

Inwould save money and continue with RVN. It won’t make much difference at this point.

I don't think he's done as well as his predecessors, has he? I could be wrong, but my impression was that - regardless of the promise, which may well be immense - he's not actually made a blinding impression. A bit like Cleverley, actually, who has been hyped a bit (albeit at a lower level) without it being backed up by outcomes. Funnily enough, the same thing applies to the vast majority of Martin's career.

Mate is a Wednesday fan and he sounds like we did when we sold Barnes/KDH when it comes to Rohl, sounds sick when it comes up. Having said that I wouldn’t be annoyed at going abroad, just not Russell Martin

Enzo had the best squad in the league.

This time round the squad is weaker and they'll be less money to spend.

Add to that a possible points deduction too.

But remember people thought hiring Ranieri was a disgrace...

Come on Russell Martin of 12 points Southampton doesn’t even deserve to clean Claudios boots, they are on different planets, Claudio is a gentleman who has achieved much in the game, Martin is a fraud who built a piss weak tippy tappy team to almost beat Derbys record. It’s almost insulting to make a comparison.

Readily available managers gettable and better for us imo than Martin

Jess Thorup

Urs Fischer

Tom Cleverley

Ralph Hassenhutl

Martin Demichelis

Carlos Carvahal

Bo Svensson

Brian Priske

Quique Sanchez Flores

Pierre Sage

It’s so predictable and short term solution to go for Martin. Really hope we at least look abroad. Hasn’t done any harm to Palace, Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton.

Martin would probably do a better job than Ranieri in the championship. Unfortunately neither of them are Nigel Pearson.

He finished 4th with a far superior Southampton side and nothing much at Swansea. Martin is not the answer to any question other than who you don’t want to employ next.
