Joined the group in the last year after being in SK1 and having mutual mates. If anyone on here isn’t in the section and wants to move closer, or even those in SK1 currently and want to get more involved, do feel free to message the group or myself for more info.

You think they're doing this as a favour to the fans?

So you don't think they are buying a section of fans.

A lot of unrest and after years they offer it up.

Push em to far they will take it away.

It is often led by the SGSA.  There's been little to no unrest.  The idea that they are giving fans (who stand already) a rail to lean on to stop them showing any discontent is kind of ridiculous mate.

UFS would have doubled in size if the younger lads who message us had parents who were either open to moving over or didn't clip their wings by saying they can’t as they always go together.

If your son or daughter wants in please maybe encourage it as moments like this if a success can really kick on our support for the younger generations.

- before anyone jumps down my throat older fans are of course welcome in, just making a point on the amount stifled by parents.

I remember when I was about 8 years old my mum not allowing me to go into the Kop at Filbert Street (probably wise back then, though she did lead the charge onto the pitch from the old North strand dragging me behind her after we won promotion v Burnley in 1980?)

But as soon as I was old enough I was in there with my mates. This is how it was, youngsters would move into the Kop with their mates as they got old enough. This is what needs to happen now for the sections to grow and eventually end up with one big section.

Stadia and the way people watch football now has changed so what used to be a natural progression isn't as defined now. That isn't to say it can't happen again though if it's done right.

The difference is back when I first started going (aged 5) you could change where you wanted to be in the ground on a match by match basis.  Dad used to decide for us based on who the opposition was and if there was any trouble expected.  I remember one game against Newcastle where it was already getting tasty before kick-off so we went in the stand which you could do by paying the steward at the top of the stairs for an upgrade.

Simpler times.

The stadium thread gets a lot of passionate replies, if even half the people that are as bothered as they are on that thread relocated to this standing area, we might get somewhere.

Applied for the ballot. Don’t really want to move from where I am in SK2 but hoping by applying it shows demand is there and hopefully in the future they will add more standing areas across the kop.

This is exactly where I am.  Me and my son like our seats in sk2 and like the people we sit next to but want safe standing.

Hope this doesnt "split" Union FS? I wonder how the "ballot" will occur?

The ballot is only for those moving in. If you have a spot in the areas already then you don’t apply in it.

I'm in one of the affected areas (sk1). Some of the people around me don't want to move. They're older and I can't see them wanting to stand every game next season. If they don't want to relocate then it's not going to have the desired effect.

This only applies if you don't want to move from your current seat. If you want to move your seat but still stay within the safe standing area then you have to ballot.

Relocate over and prove the demand is there, they then expand further into the kop and you can move back to your current seat which will have been converted to a safe standing area!

Then they’re going to be inconveniencing themselves whilst everyone around them stands?

The amount of spam emails the club sends out daily the one about being in a safe standing area could easily have been missed.

There is a section of our support who don’t do social media etc.

It’s going to be interesting how many auto renewals rock up for the first game next season and find themselves in a standing area.
