Baller League UK fixtures, schedule, teams, managers and rules plus how to watch or stream on Sky Sports/NOW

What I do find strange is how this has made its way onto Sky. The hole in the market was because the younger generation supposedly prefer the easy access of streaming and they can drop in/out. Sky Sports packaging it up as a four hour show with all analysis etc defeats that idea.

It's Sky obviously trying to tap in to that market.

It's the same as the BBC saying they understand MOTD needs to change in response to all of the highlights just being online now.

The problem is you have old, out of touch executives trying to do what "the kids" want and that has never, ever really worked haha.

Tbh I don't think Sky paid much, if anything for this.

You'll see the pundits talking using non-Sky Sports branded mics - it was also broadcast on the Baller League YouTube. Feels as though they've basically been given this, helps them target the younger audience, pads out their Monday night and gives them some Sky Sports News/YouTube content of their own.

Apparently all the famous people are contracted to post about it and appear 6/10 times, hence Micah/Lineker/Shearer not being there on Monday. It also made it even more hilarious how seriously the coaches were taking it when they cut to them.

Just to note also, the first night on the Baller YT had 1m views on the stream and around 400k on the highlight videos they've put up. How much money that translates too I'm not sure, but Sky aren't the lynchpin in this by any means.

Be like their British Basketball packages then when they existed - get the coverage for free and a production company holds the cost.

The Copperbox Arena is a cracking little venue.I have watched the London Lions a few times and always think that it would make for a brilliant five a side football stadium. My Stepdaughters boys are heavily into this sort of nonsense and are desperate for me to take them.Tickets appear to be selling well with only a few left for this Monday. Will be interesting to see if demand continues.

It's decent, shines a light on some of the talent in non league (which the majority of the players come from). Plus it's nice to actually see some football expression, not the robotic stuff we're forced to watch in the Premier League.

Think a lot of people that are moaning and don't have a lot of good to say about it don't quite appreciate the young demographic it's aimed at. It's less the Masters Football of 15 years ago, and more like the Kings League over in Spain that Gerard Pique is absolutely raking cash in for.

The bloke that created this has done really well with it in Germany, it's a bit unpolished as the first UK version but they'll get there.

KSI needs to stay off the comms at every opportunity lol

He was annoying to say the least. The worst shot in the world was made to sound like it was gonna get nominated for the Puskas award.

Agree. The football is actually a fairly decent watch. Plenty of goals and that’s what people want to see.

Double edge sword that - it's affected some clubs badly at the moment with multiple players leaving their clubs to play in this.

Will that demographic ever move over to 'Football' as we know it or could this be the end of 'Football' as we know it?
There are so many threads just within our own forum that talks about an aging fan base but is this the future, will anyone post 2005 (splitting Gen Z here) ever really get into Football or do they want shows like this?

I'm pre-2005 so obviously can't stand the over the top theatrics of the whole thing, screaming commentators, benches spilling onto the pitch at any moment, girly face offs its footballs version of a wrestlemania production, its all to very foam finger, Z lister creating, gosh honey did you see that over the top for my liking.

It’s defo not meant to be football as you know it though, they literally use the “new age of football” tag thing themselves. I get it’s not your or anyone else’s thing and that’s fine, the kids will and are lapping it up.

I feel like it’s past even my own demographic as an U30, the production is a bit much - but like I said I’m just quite enjoying seeing football played with some expression.
