It is because on the pitch he has the arrogance and air of superiority of a world class player while actually being a very average (at best) defender. If he was actually world class people would not mind his manner as much, and likewise if he came across as more humble people wouldn't mind so much about him being a limited footballer. It's the yawning chasm between his attitude and ability that rubs people up the wrong way.

 

He might be a nice guy off the pitch for all I know. But the way he behaves on it is hard to stomach at times.

No need to point out that Wout has not helped us to win many matches. But frankly we'd still have been relegated last year with prime Maldini at the back! We were sh1t

I don't understand why Winks doesn't get the same if not more level of hate compared to Faes.

Winks is a guy who throw his toys out when Enzo left, undermined Cooper, refused to spend a night at the training ground and is pretty shit at any level other than championship. All while earning shit loads. 

 

Personally, of all the players in the squad, it's Winks ( and Vesty ) that really wind me up.

Look, I'm not looking to overstate the quality of a player who is at best "decent", just giving an objective assessment. I think some of you didn't like his attitude from early days, and confirmation bias has been at play from that point onwards.

Preach. And to be clear, I'd never dream of defending Vesty, Kristiansen, Soumare, BDCR, Ayew, Daka, Skipp and so many more as they are so sh1t they are not worth the effort.
