I get the hate, but what surprises me is that he seems to get more of it than players like Vestergaard who are equally as bad, equally as culpable, have an equally bad attitude and with the added bonuses of being unavailable a lot of the time because he’s fallen out with the manager

I would play Aluko in that position over Faes.

Utilise him as CDM as he can actually pass forwards and make a tackle unlike any other midfielder we have, that’s if Winks is allowed off the naughty step. Get Nelsen in to get up to speed with Okoli.

When I look at the 5 CBs we have, Souttar being included. Nelson is similar to Vestergaard. Okoli and Souttar are very good at blocks and overall defensive screening. Souttar is better in the air and bith fairly quick.

 

Faes is the odd one out, but he's also the risk taker which we have both benefitted from and felt the cost from.

 

He's more than good enough at this level and when the dips in form come, I'd rather a manager treat him as droppable than how Enzo considered him but it's his attitude that makes me not want him here anymore.

 

I'd take a loan with a reasonable option to buy from the likes of Lazio or other clubs previously linked. We need to really progress this overhaul.

Looking at his situation objectively;

 

He joined us as a replacement for Fofana which I imagine was rushed through due to how Wes dealt with it. He was then made to play CB for a lot of the season with Amartey as Soyuncu and Vestergaard were out of favour and Evans was injured. We all know how that season ended.

 

Championship season he was good despite having to cover vestergaards lack of pace and the space voided by Ricardo moving into midfield.

 

Last season was a howler - for everyone. He didn’t play well - but in fairness how many players did? 
 

Could a new manager with a new centre back partnership bring out the best in him? We won’t know until we try.

I’ve not seen enough of Aluko to comment, where did he play for the youth teams?? 
 

I’d also revert Hamza back to his old, all action tackle everything CDM instead of RB too.

 

But sticking to Faes, he’s not a bad footballer and is strong on the front foot so get him attacking everything in the hole before it reaches the defensive line. His problem at CB is his concentration and discipline to not attack the 30/70 balls (which instead would be a strength at CDM)
