Mr Yaxley-Lennon and his pals are deluding themselves if they think that support from Trump is beneficial.

Most European leaders, including those on the centre/right such as Merz and Meloni, have realised this, are getting braver and are distancing themselves from Trump.

And, please bear in mind, Burnham issued that communication on the day that the subject of it attempted to launch an actual coup against the seat of power in his country.

I'm assuming Ten Names Yaxley is entirely fine with destroying the democratic process to ensure a white ethnostate, though.

@Trumpet A tad harsh aside from your odd excursions into extra terrestrials and UFO sightings.

Mad how many "worst PM ever" or "most hated man in Britain" shouts i'm seeing.

Already got videos of people in pubs tonight singing “Andy Burnham’s a willy puller” not realising what he’s done for football, Hillsborough victims and the general cultural improvement of Manchester. What do these people actually want?

Some of them want a Reform government and subsequent ethnostate.

Some of them are just doing it "for the bantz".

Some of them are being manipulated.

Of course, it is only the first one of those groups that needs to be paid any mind to, because the actions of the other two will help them get what they want.

In other bad news interest on ISA's to be taxed at 22%

This is such an awful policy decision. Even the people who know about ISAs and invest in ISAs, are not understanding the changes properly (me included). So the people who are thinking about investing or don't know much about S&S ISA are going to see this and be turned off from it. Effectively having the opposite effect from what the government wants, which is to increase investment into S&S.

Failing to understand second order effects of their policy decisions pretty much sums up this Labour government

From my understanding, If you leave cash sitting uninvested inside a Stocks & Shares ISA, the interest earned on that cash is expected to be taxed at 22% from April 2027, to try and stop people using Stocks & Shares ISAs as de facto Cash ISAs. (I think)

Honest question here; what is the benefit of a SAS ISA over a cash ISA to the individual and other people, other than (possibly) a greater rate of return?

I don't think there is any other benefit apart form ROI which is the primary reason for having an ISA in first place. SAS ISA if you invest into  S&P500 for example will yield an annual return of 8-10% and compound interest versus roughly 4.5% in a Cash Isa

Anyone who is saving money into a standard savings account should really think about moving that into a SAS ISA and into the S&P, i have a 2 month income buffer in my easy access saver then rest in SAS ISA

Got it, thank you.

Was curious as to whether there was any other wider benefit.

They’re restricting the amount that can go into a cash isa ( apart from 60+)

So if you had 20k available to invest, you’d only be able to put 12k into cash isa

the 8k balance has to go into s&s isa

people could then put that 8k into a s&s isa but hold it as cash and therefore get around the restriction.
by taxing cash inside a s&s isa, they cover that loophole.

so it’s a very specific taxation on isa

fundamentally they remain tax free on interest or return

The over 60 bit is relatively significant but the tax on cash in a non-cash ISA is a bit of a storm in a tea cup, to my mind.

Stocks and shares ISAs were never intended to hold cash, that's what Cash ISAs are for. Like you say, they're closing a loophole, but as usual all the headlines make it sound like a massive and cynical tax grab

Yep. Most people that will be outraged by this won't understand it. The headlines written misrepresented what's actually happening (shock) but a 30 second read cleared it up.

Horrible reading.

Makes me even more thankful for the Leicester NHS staff. Both my babies had/have difficulties and the NHS has been nothing short of outstanding.

Would be good if Burnham follows through on moving functions of parliament up to Manchester.

Read something the other day about how much it’s cost the Beeb to move a fifth of its operations to Salford

Of course it doesn’t address the benefits to the local economy
