Or the middle ground whereby Boris and his cabinet decided give 50% business rate relief to which the government (and in particular local councils) has pretty much reeled from that lack of income since 2019. And we are returning to something more realistic.

Had Boris not done we would see less venues survive as we are now seeing. As society we need to decide whether social venues are just businesses that need to fail if not viable or an important part of the social fabric.

 

If it's the first, the stuff them they can pay the same as everyone else. If they serve a wider cultural purpose then they will need assistance as they do in other countries.

 

I'm not moaning, I'm pleased he is starting to fix the mess Reeves has created. Long way to go yet.

It's positive intent. Burnham gets communities and people and what makes them tick. More positive announcements and better messaging in three days than the previous two years.
