Well not really. Royal Navy gets talked down a lot but still packs a punch for the size of the country it's protecting.

Combat wise it has 5 active subs, 2 aircraft carriers, 3 active destroyers (with the other 3 being refitted) and a handful of frigates.

Doesn't sound so great typed out, but one fully stocked aircraft carrier and 1 destroyer which is over twice the size of the argie "destroyers" pretty much slaps down anything the argies can put in the sea or air.

It doesn't have 5 active subs, they have 'accidents' and at times we've only had one out on patrol.

Are you perhaps thinking of the trident subs? I didn't include those in those numbers, by subs I meant the astute class not the vanguard class.

Anyone who seriously thinks Argentina can go toe to toe militarily with the UK is having a laugh. The UK military budget is 20 times more than Argentina spends.

What's that? Military people are saying we need to spend more to defend against things like this? They'd say that if San Marino declared war on the UK, they just want to line their pockets.

Been trying to avoid reading anything about that case

The discourse online that I've seen about it has been...very bitter.

And unfortunately as I'm sure the prosecution will try again, that's not going away any time soon.

Mistrial imminent in the Lindsey Clancy case.

Outcome no one really wants or wanted.

Genuinely don't understand this case at all.

If she's openly declared she has killed the children, then why are people so invested in it? Surely if she had a working noodle she should be in prison for life, but if she was coocoobanananas then she should be in a padded cell for life?

Why are people standing around outside the court like muppets?

...because you've got the nutters on one side who actually think she did nothing wrong because she had a psychotic break and should get a minimum of some antipsychotic treatment before rejoining society (or even that she was somehow a patsy), and then you've got the nutters on the other who think she's the irredeemable personification of evil and should be strapped into the electric chair yesterday. It's become an extension of the tiresome culture war.

Of course, what you say are the only two actual legitimate possible outcomes.

Every day that goes by America becomes a more hated country by Donald Trump. Suggesting that he wants Russia as an ally more than Canada. Refering to Candians as nasty people. World will be safer and happy place him and Putin are gone.

For me it's those, plus care in the community. Disastrous for those with serious MH issues that are just discarded into the general public and expected to just "get on with it" only for them to return time and time again because they can't manage life in the community.

Or ending up in the prison system.

It's just a shame more people couldn't or didn't see this coming over five years ago.

The atmosphere around the current press conference with Clancy's defence lawyer is so weird. I swear he made a joke about her being in a wheelchair. Very strange.

You'd never know this was about 3 children being murdered.

If she murdered the kids due to mental illness related to being the mother of the kids then I doubt she’ll be locked up for that long. But she’d never be allowed to parent again.

Genuinely dunno, I don't make the rules, but if I did I reckon someone that killed 3 young kids wouldn't be allowed to roam free ever again.

I'm not sure "mental illness" would change my mind on it tbh. Same for that Nottingham killer.

... why would the US be the only nation to vote no on this beyond just quasi-diplomatic trolling with a side of veiled bigotry?

It's ironic isn't it, given their propensity to change maps unilaterally.

Also, the new map projection is still wildly inaccurate. Not doing Africa too many favours. Also also, why only Africa? Why not South America and Papua New Guinea?

Is it because the US is smaller on the new more accurate map?

Apparently it's "superfluous" and "a distraction" and also part of "an ideological agenda".

So, massive hypocrisy as well as bigoted, then.

Yeah, the hypocrisy is palpable.

I think all of the Southern continents will look bigger on this map, not just Africa.

What I always find funny about far right willy pullers like this is, if they're so convinced they're morally in the right and they have nothing to feel ashamed about, why do they always hide their faces?

****ing cowards. You believe in being a Nazi, at least own it.

Just ban face coverings in public. Too many people with cold faces in the summer in the UK these days.
