Nah this country on domestic level in particular has lost its marbles. At least in France when they’re protesting on the streets, it’s about meaningful stuff.

We just spend our time arguing about insane stuff that means absolutely nothing of any great significance (flags, trans people, hotels). INSANE.

I can't really find a compelling point against that tbh.

Please could someone enlighten me to what’s occurring with all this flag nonsense?

I’ve tried to avoid it, however I feel I need to come out from under the rock.

Saw my first flag raisers tonight on the way home from work.

Four  30 to 40 aged lads, one bedecked with a George Cross round his neck and down his back, and the other 3 on step ladders putting flags up at the birch tree roundabout, Coalville.

They must be popular lads because most cars going past were beeping their horn and getting a thumbs up in return from the flaggers.

I've seen it on the news, it just took me a bit by surprise to see it in action relatively close to home.

I wonder if he's got a dead body double for when the time comes?

Other than insane should be re-written as INANE because its not insanity but it is:

inane
/ɪˈneɪn/
pronunciation.svg
adjective

  1. lacking sense or meaning; silly.

Labour attacking the new leader of Green Party on social media. Totally laughable

Probably see them as a threat to overtake them in popularity

On paper yeah but attacking them right now is not going convinced anyone of a centre left leaning thought back Labour rather further push them away

Hot take

13th September helps the existing government.

It's a possibility. It depends on how things play out and how willing the followers of "our Tommeh" are to live up to their reputation.

It’s like what Will Self said about Brexit. You are not racist if you voted for Brexit but we know all racists voted for Brexit.

Likely it will get messy - it just shows every month that goes by this country is at boiling point and it will only get worse.

Good job we have a strong PM that will guide the country through any difficulties

What does it all mean though?

Imagine how class it would have been with Boris, Liz or Rishi at the helm

We shall find out.

WRT the second sentence - it's like people keep saying to me about democracy, on paper there appears to be a shitstorm but every other option is worse.

Burst of many things including pride, nationalism and a very small percentage doing it purely for the wrong reasons.

Which the media report with pictures of people scrapping with police holding beer cans and the electorate what really win elections start to realise who they might be aligning with.

I almost feel like the country is going all American and people feel the need to put a flag outside the house lol

Maybe I’m just laid back, as I don’t resonate with it in the slightest.

Along with the hotel stuff, I imagine a lot doing it don't really know what they're angry about, is it immigrants, is it small boats, is it where they're accommodated

Nothing speaks of pride in a flag then it being painted on the road for people to drive over

Where is Will Self these days? I kinda miss him.

I remember when him and a more tame Peter Hitchens were the most controversial mainstream pundits.
