They charge about the same as ladies hairdressers and are often busier.

 

Also usually staffed by Korean/Thai workers so not so sure of the driving force if they were a front. King Power?

There's an ad on the TV currently that is for a trust that provides food parcels. In the ad they show people who are incredibly sad but grateful for the food.

I supported a volunteer in a food bank for 2 years or so. Quite a few of the folk who attended would go through the bag of items you offered them picking and choosing what they wanted and often jettison the fruit and veg and ask for a pizza or cake instead. One women travelled by taxi from the other side of town to collect her food parcel - I kid you not.

That said, they are a much needed modern resource for poorer families, it is a case however of bizarre priorities for some.

Nail bars are used 

they could be laundering but they often have customers which sets them apart from the barbers

My wife volunteers twice a week at our local foodbank

 

a few years ago they had a regular clientele of seemingly needy families. Post covid and brexit this dropped off markedly. 
then they had a regular group of asylum seekers who came from a nearby hotel. 
that was shut down last year so they disappeared.

afaik, another food bank opened locally and offered a better selection of items. 
 

my wife is quite cynical of the needs of a fair number of those who attend.  Absolutely there are still some who need the service.

Think a couple of the others in the area do brisk enough custom though, if a cursory look and glance at the Google reviews is any judge. 

 

Of course, it could be astroturfing and you can have a legit customer base while still washing some money too, but...

Do they still have Home Economics as a school subject? I've been able to cook a basic meal since my early teens and not because I had to.

I volunteer at a foodbank and attendances are down at the moment.

 

The cynics among us think it's because people don't need to worry about feeding their kids on an all inclusive holiday in Spain.

Wow. I mean you can tell these Reform types responsible for this type of disorder are pieces are work but it’s interesting to see stats like this about it!

 

It completely dispels what they say about it being in the name of creating a safe country given these people cause harm and fear in the walls of their own homes.

It's always been hypocritical. 

 

Like the fundies in the US lambasting the Taliban when their own attitudes towards pretty much every human demographic are identical to them.
