I thought it was a really flat performance

Not sure about that. Pulp know what they're doing on the big stage. Maybe it's that confidence and composure that came across as "flat"?

For me, 'Something Changed' and 'Common People' were real moments. The former is just a lovely song, bit of a tear-jerker lol

Says the person popping in to comment on politics lol!

Not really just stating it’s a music festival - you don’t need idiots ranting and raving about politics - just get on with your set

Pleasantly surprised by Raye

Older I get, harder it is to find something decent but always some decent finds.

It's what it's all about isn't it. (Well that and happy youngsters with their simplistic leftie politics annoying fogies!)

And keep politics out of sport too! Especially the wrong kind of politics!!

It's ok to have space for (mostly) like-minded people to get together and let the world know what they think! The world doesn't have to listen! And it won't.

On politics and music. Music reflects life. Politics is important in people's lives. It's that simple. Much of the greatest music (most?) is distinctly political. Many of the best performers and shows are distinctly political. I guess it's the obvious visceral and unbending dislike of the political right that riles some folks.

For those of you upset at Kneecap etc... Tune into Rod Stewart. I will! And I will sing along merrily despite that dodgy old c**kwomble's politics!

Just had The 1975 set on in the background.

Obviously they're a popular turn but I don't think I've ever heard one of their songs before, knowingly anyway. I know their singer is called Matt or Matty something, but I don't believe anybody has ever mentioned them to me in conversation let alone told me they like them.

Are there loads of 1975 fans on here? That I'm out of the loop is the least surprising thing ever, as I lurch towards late middle age and increasing irrelevance but they seem to have not touched ANYONE I know culturally, which is a bit unusual

I'm the same with the 1975 and had a similar chat with my wife last night during Biffy Clyros set. I only know the song chocolate and I honestly have never met anyone who has brought them up in a music conversation.

The 1975 have 16.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify...

Blink 182 have 17.9 million

David Bowie has 16.3 million

Pulp have 3.3 million

Biffy Clyro have 1.7 million

Not trying to say who's a bigger band etc, but that's a lot of listeners im yet to find!

Bob Vylan (awful name) seem like a lovely band don’t they.

BBC bosses will be frantically panicking

It was always going to happen as they have defended kneecap and freedom of musical rights etc. I believe they started the petitions regarding politicians trying to influence festivals.

So putting them on the same stage just before kneecap im sure Glastonbury knew what they was doing.

They're one of those bands that are a decent size in a lot of countries rather than being massive in the UK or US

It's crude and entirely inadvisable for sure.

Nobody should be surprised about anti-IDF and Israeli government views being expressed at a music festival though. The right wing media are desperate for it to happen, aren't they! Wouldn't it be more concerning if we *didn't* hear these views?

Absolutely. I don't mind his music, though not someone I listen to regularly. Probably the best performance I've seen so far this weekend along with Myles Smith.

And looking on the singles list, never had a song higher than 5th in any country (unless ive mis read wiki!)

But they do have the following as they get the headline slots at festivals.

Bring back the good old days when Glastonbury was about truly apolitical acts like Rage Against the Machine, Joan Baez and Sinead O'Connor

Watching them back now. They've written some great music, haven't they. This show is helped by a brilliant sound mix.

(I'm old enough to remember a classic bad-take review of the utterly brilliant Blue Album in the NME ha ha.)

Old enough here to remember the video for Buddy Holly being included on the Windiws 95 installation CD to show off its media playing capabilities... great video though
