Genuine question, would you go and see Prodigy in seated location?

My other half is a right soft touch at gigs and will not survive the standing area.

If you stood at the back of a Prodigy gig it might suit you both. Away from the manicness but still getting the atmosphere of standing.

Turns out I can't find standing tickets anywhere anyway.

£45 seems decent value for Prodigy even if in the stands

I went to see them at Leeds arena on the last tour. No one really sat down for them in the seated area

Got tickets to see the prodigy next year in Birmingham, this will be my 10th time seeing them live, it's amazing how they have stayed relevant for so long, and they just keep getting better and better live. They should have been headlining the Pyramid stage

Was enjoying their set until Maxim shouted "Flip the law"!

As somebody who's never been to Glastonbury and has no intention of ever going to Glastonbury, keep politics out of Glastonbury IMQHO! It was never like this back when I didn't go!

Was this line in any reference to the Prodigy song 'Their Law?' and that was said to tone it down haha

First time going this year, genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. Just a superb weekend.

The sheer amount of stuff to do, things to see, and additional music that you don't see on TV is pretty overwhelming.

Seeing Altern8 close the festival with the sun coming up at 5am was pretty special. The Prodigy take performance of the weekend though, jesus christ! :nigel:

Just had The 1975 set on in the background.

Obviously they're a popular turn but I don't think I've ever heard one of their songs before, knowingly anyway. I know their singer is called Matt or Matty something, but I don't believe anybody has ever mentioned them to me in conversation let alone told me they like them.

Are there loads of 1975 fans on here? That I'm out of the loop is the least surprising thing ever, as I lurch towards late middle age and increasing irrelevance but they seem to have not touched ANYONE I know culturally, which is a bit unusual

I'm late to this as didn't check this thread at all whilst Glasto was on but I'm a big fan of them, completely misunderstood by the older demographic unfortunately.

Matty Healy can rub people up the wrong way and to be honest I don't hold that against anyone who doesn't want to listen because of it, but he's a phenomenal writer/lyricist and can play multiple instruments unlike a lot of "artists" nowadays.

To answer your point about them in terms of size, I've seen them headline the NME stage at Reading Festival in 2016. They they headlined in 2018 on the main stage and saw them then as well! Since then they headlined Reading Festival in 2023 as well...and obviously now Glasto. So in short they are MASSIVE, so very surprised you've not heard any of their stuff.

I think my biggest complaint about the misconception of them as a band is that "all their songs sound the same" which is frankly ludicrous. Of course they have a distinct sound like any band does but they went from playing "Falling for You" solo acoustic, straight into "People" which is a heavy rock tune. I fear people have just followed a crowd without actually listening them.

Mini rant over...

We're clearly NOT their target audience. I did notice a very good review of one of their albums on Pitchfork, and they're usually very sniffly about pretty much everything

This is what I'm saying as well. Somewhere somehow they've developed a blind hatred that people think they are throwaway generic indie trash but those "in the biz" of music critique for the most part have been surprised but their releases. Truly doing things that others aren't but sadly I don't think they'll shake this brush they've been tarred with.

I get what you are saying about this, and honestly no need to rant :) I'm another guy who's not really heard too much of them, despite going to a lot of festivals and gigs over the years. The bits I have heard didn't pull me into giving them anymore of a listen if I'm honest so I've just left them. Within my work, friends etc I have also not met anyone who's a big fan of them, so didn't really have anymore reason to attempt to get into them.  Regarding the headlining festivals both Cathfish and Foals have headlined L&R twice, but I also would call them massive bands if I'm honest.

I recon there is a few people put off by the whole 'Nepo' family thing about Matty.

Yeah, the rant wasn't directed at anyone on here but general frustration on the misunderstanding! Watching their gigs, there's people of a wide variety of ranges so they definitely appeal to a vast group but maybe those people are just hardcore fans and so you don't hear many people in your daily circles mention them. Personally I often find myself hesitating to divulge that I like them a lot due to the pre-conceived ideas of what they are....maybe that's it!

I listen to such a wide range of music I get stick from most people anyway, don't let it worry you!

My last three 'big' gigs was Bloc Party, Bullet for my Valentine/Trivium joint tour & Scooter lol

I like Fat Of The Land and a few other singles. Piranha springs to mind as a banger.

Can't say I'm a big fan overall though.

Fat Of The Land is good but Music For The Jilted Generation is epic. It's on my Top 20 albums of all time. Break&Enter and 3 Kilos are masterpieces.
