I’m still absolutely baffled that the club let him do that documentary

I don't actually mind the idea of it, he's one of the few likeable players we have, and I can understand people being interested in a peek behind the curtain at his recovery. It represents something a bit different from the club other than churning out content based on whatever gimmick is hot on tiktok that week.

But the documentary should've just been something the club put out on YouTube.

The 343 Southampton played yesterday was so dangerous because the their wide players/AMs played in the half spaces and weren’t isolated at all. Because they were near each other they could find and support one another.

Our wingers have no support at all from the fullbacks as they’re so wide and high most of the time. Daka isn’t any good coming short either.

If we sack Cifuentes it’s not a silver bullet but a competent manager would have us in the play offs. Besides a few screamers Cifuentes has gotten nothing out of one of the best players on the division.

Cooper dropped him, and then played his strange system where Fatawu and Mavididi rotated with each other.

Cynic in me says his head has gone.

He was in and out of the team until he came on and changed the game against Southampton and then started every game until his injury.

You may be right about his head being gone,  don’t think the club have helped with all that documentary bollocks, he’s also being a gimp on social media on the regular

Thinks he's too good for us. Will pick up just before January to push for a move. We'll get about £25m. Leave it until the last week of January to bid for Murphy off Portsmouth and not even get him.

We're back to Championship team with one fan favourite again. He's the Joey Gudjohnssen or Iain Hume of 2025

Being less of a gimp than Joey Barton still makes him a gimp 🤷‍♂️

Has he done anything actually that bad, bit of a fanny about a cut on his foot and saying well done to a pal

Their players also passed the ball when someone ran into the space. If our players do make a run, which is really rare, Mav and Fatawu never pass as they are too greedy.  That’s down to how the manager has treated them all season.

Out of form but lets be honest, watch whenever he gets the ball, there'll be 4 players in and around that corner of the box. Teams set up to deny him the cut in and shoot, because it's literally the only tactic we have. A non-fraudulent manager with some actual tactics and he'd look a class above this division again, because teams wouldn't be able to just shut him down knowing we have nothing else to punish them for doing so.

Half the greediness is because they don’t have anybody nearby to them

Yeah they developed the greed because of Marti’s lack of tactics.  When the help is there they ignore.  Mav has always been a greedy player, he never passes when someone else actually gets ahead of him in space.

A half-decent manager probably utilises some of the space freed up by so many players going out to defend against Fatawu.

All we have is the predictable run from James on the underlap, which so often gets ignored. Or the option to pass back to Winks or the RB and any potential move breaks down.

Fatawu and Ricardo should be an unplayable right hand side in this league yet they’re both trailing off the longer they spend with Cifuentes.

Yet another player shafted by the system

Always has 2-3 players to beat every single time!
On the occasions he’d been 1 v 1 this season he’s been above average and beat his man more often than not!

He was always 1 v 1 under Enzo too, the difference being we played with 1 holder, an inverted FB and 2 underlapping 8’s ( Ndidi on his side)

This season we’ve got JJ underlapping on his own and 3 holding midfielders ( including our RB) 😭

Too many bodies to breakthrough because we move it too slow

yep. If he's set up 1 v 1 he rinses any full back in the division. 1 v 2 or 3 is a difficult one but it means there should be one or two free runners from us. But there aren't, because this system isolates our threats and makes them easy to nullify

The fact he can't work it out is the thing that's the most surprising. If you gave this squad back to Enzo he would have JJ and whoever is at right back overlapping constantly to give Fatawu space, and if you gave this squad to Tony Mowbray, at the very least, the Right back would overlap consistently.

They have two wildly different approaches to football, but both of them are competent enough to know that if the opposition are doubling/trebling up on a single player, you utilise an overlap to either create space for them, or provide an easy through ball f they don't track the overlapping runner.

You could give this squad to just about any competent manager who isn't wedded to a single ideology and they would improve the impact of our attackers overnight.

Even if we did, it would take us 17 passes to get the ball over there.

Yes, but think on how great it would make Vestergaards passing stats look?
