I am the opposite on him. Whilst he has skill, it is better suited with more space out wide. Even if he isn't rapid, he is a superb crosser of the ball as well so he's much more dangerous at LW.

Whilst he was mainly playing centrally he found himself on the left wing quite a bit. Linked up very well with their LB.

Both goals came from him receiving the ball on the left side.

He’s one of those players that while he isn’t quick he looks quick with the ball. He’s reminded me of Maddison a bit tonight

More of a Jack Grealish type of winger!

Alves is the exact kind of player we are missing in the first team.

Frustrating that with Ramsey injured we have the best remaining attacking midfielder at the club out on loan. Hopefully Page can step up.

Doubt it.

Aluko can play CB and is higher up the pecking order.

he wasn't higher up in the pecking order at cb

Considering TWB didn't feature at all in pre-season suggests he wasn't anywhere near the first team picture.

Would Joseph be much worse than our other RB options?

Joseph, Aluko or even Cover could probably do a decent job for us as the bar is so low with us now. Joseph and Aluko especially have the potential to be good Championship players.

What sort of positions/roles in the midfield are Braybrooke and Cartwright most suited to? I mean traditional 6s or 8s or something else?

Pretty much what you have said.

Someone with a better football knowledge could probably explain better but from what I’ve seen this season

Braybrooke plays a deeper role, picking the ball up from the CBs & keeper building attacks through him. I’d say an underrated part of his game is ability to break up the play. His defensive stats are some of the best in the League two.

Cartwright I’ve seen less of but he’s more of a box to box, has the ability to arrive late in the box. He’s physical & comfortable carrying the ball. Probably a similar mould to James (not saying he’s as good before I get told off)

In the few games I’ve watched BrayBrooke this season he very much seems to play the Winks role. Sit deep and pick the ball off defence, technically strong in tight spaces, decent range of passing, keeps the ball moving and a CDM who breaks play but not in the Ndidi type way.

He’s a better RB than Choudhury yes.

I really hope we don’t waste our limited resources on signing a RB when Ricardo’s contract expires in the summer. Aluko and Joseph can compete for the position.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the summer. This feels like the first season I can remember where we’ve got 3-5 players out on loan and they’re actually playing. (Alves & TWB have had Injuries interrupt their loans)

Daka, Soumare, Ayew & Ricardo contracts are up. Fatawu won’t be here. Winks & Faes will almost certainly go. Then you’ve got Ramsey going back. There’s a few more that’ll have uncertain futures.

It’s hard to see us having any money to spend either. Be very interesting to see what sort of squad we go into next season with. Because at the moment it’s looking very bare.

Im basing this on the fact we’ll be in the Championship..

from what (limited viewing) I have seen of the above

I'd be reasonably confident in most of these, as backup players, the forwards would be a huge gamble however

its not the worst place for us to be in though, and would be hugely beneficial if even half of that list worked out as viable 1st team options next season

We could have a team of up to 8 young local lads playing provided we don't sell any of them.

Be great to see but we'd probably struggle quite a bit.

Agreed and for the forwards it might be a step too far. Ideally we needed Evans to be hitting similar numbers of appearances to Monga/Page who both look set for 15-20 games this season. For whatever reason he’s more in the 0-1 category!

When you think we are very likely to go into pre-season with him being probably the only striker around the first team squad as well…

Need to be taking chances with him like the 20-30 minutes vs Cheltenham he should’ve got

Our hand has been partly fixed by finances as well as talent in the academy but hoping we replace a lot of the existing squad with homegrown players next season:

Ricardo -> Aluko/Joseph

Faes -> Wilson Brown

Winks and Soumare -> Braybrooke and Cartwright

Ramsey -> Alves

Daka and Ayew -> Evans and Hutchinson

I’m sure there’s others and some of these may not quite be ready, but I’d be a lot more excited for the season if we have this kind of squad (with a few older more experienced players in key positions). Then replace those on loan with the next academy generation. May have teething problems in the short term while they settle into the Championship but it’s also a win:win for PSR.

Think Alves, Braybrooke, Cartwright, Joseph and Aluko will be bled in, maybe Evans, but think the rest, maybe including Evans, will be on loan (TWB hopefully in L1, the rest probably in L2). Still a very good position from this point forward view to be in, means we are less dependant on our terrible transfer activity. Only good thing about the place right now is the academy, think it’s top 5/10 in the country atm

Huddersfield have got a minimum of 21 games left. Alves has made 7 appearances so far. He needs to stay fit for the remainder of the season.

I think with his appearance off the bench against Stockport and last night he’s probably forced himself into the starting 11
