Alternative is Daka who can't score or Ayew who can't press

BEK shouldn't even be playing as a 10. Word from Genk and Morocco fans was that he is best a bit deeper and that's been backed up by his performances here.

Has the quality for both imo. If you played him deeper though would need a strong defensive midfielder next to him who we don’t have and can’t afford

Perfect for MCs two attacking 8s system then

Mavididi started as a striker at youth level.

I agree with others there's definitely potential in McAteer through the middle, he has a bit of a poacher about him.

The format of the game yesterday was a good idea but in practice, it was so turgid. Should have just made it 3 60 min matches/periods because with the drinks breaks it just got a bit silly. Though OHL were probably wanting to do 90's so maybe that wasn't a great idea to pair up at this stage

Other alternative is try McAteer or Mavididi as the striker reckon both offer more than Daka, BEK and Ayew in terms of overall output from a strikers point of view.

McAteer as a striker is definitely worth looking at. He’s a willing runner in behind and he works hard defensively so can set the press, if we have nothing to work with money wise for transfers the new manager is going to have to get creative.

Just don't see him having the game to come deep and hold onto the ball etc.

It depends on whether we play with a CAM/Number 10 or 2 number 8’s really under Cifuentes. You are right that you need your striker to come deep and hold onto the ball if you play with 2 numbers 8s but if you play with a more traditional CAM/number 10 the most important thing for your striker to do is threaten in behind and keep the defensive line from being able to squeeze up onto the CAM.

Looks more of a 8 too me.

I suppose ayew could at least play by holding up the ball and getting runners beyond him. I don't want that to be what we end up with but at least it's something

As I understand it there’s 3 roles in Cifuentes preferred 433 midfield; deep lying playmaker, box to box and a free roaming 8. Winks looks ideal for the former, maybe Skipp/Ndidi the B2B and if we can keep him BEK would be amazing as the 8. If he goes possibly McAteer or even Ricardo as the 8 but either would be out of position.

Winks, BEK (B2B) and Alves (Free role) behind Monga, Mavididi and Fatawu. Against the weaker teams anyway!

I do respectfully disagree.

Evans is outperforming Saka when he was a youth player. He’s actually looking very promising to me, powerful, explosive, rapid and is a tidy footballer. He’s ready to be integrated into the team. Alves will be fine he’s overcome a horrific injury at his age, and he was impressive at Cardiff despite them being a poor team.

Page looks about ready, and Aluko is a beast. I’d put both Aluko and Monga straight in, Monga is already probably the best winger on the league….. he’s just insanely good.

Braybrook is unfortunately finished here, he needs to move on and rebuild his career elsewhere if he stays here he is in danger of being released into the abyss.

Eventually I think Evans, Monga and Page will be playing every week. I think Alves will come good, he’s an extremely talented lad who’s been dealt a horrible stumbling block that he is fighting back from. A manager like Cifuentes will like him and develop his game.

Our youth will save us this season, and save us a **** tonne of money.

Fair point mate, I havent really seen Page or Aluko (i mean, a slight understatement...id never heard of them)

Ive probably done some of the youngsters a disservice but was only going on what I've seen myself. (Clearly not enough)

You’re not wrong in saying we need to be reserved and not expect the world straight away, but, this is definitely a good crop of young players. There’s a few who are all capable of playing first team football, and a few on the periphery.

I'd just like to offer my utmost respect and congratulations to anyone that listened to this on radio Leicester. 180 mins of Matty fryatt commentating on this is akin to some kind of water torture.
