Not The Top 20 is a far superior EFL podcast. Covers the whole EFL so you don't get as much pure Champo chat but they're not click merchants like the Second Tier goons.

Is Not the Top 20, George Elek? If so I'd rather the Second Tier podcast. Benjamin Bloom is alright enough as well.

Yeah it's Elek. My progress with not the top 20 went from thinking it's fairly decent to hate Elek and Maxwell.

Just in case anyone had doubts over Marti still...the Second Tier Podcast have just rated him the ELEVENTH best manager in the division :D. So that's auto's secured already.:appl:

Seem to remember those clowns putting Maresca near the bottom the last time we were in the champ....

Won't look it up though. Can't be ar$ed with them.

Ryan did a decent video about our decline and didn't do the usual pundit line of they won the league 10 years ago, he actually acknowledged the consecutive 5th place finishes which a lot of people seem to ignore when discussing how quickly we've dropped off.

Yeah it's Elek. I don't mind him tbh. And the other guy is ok.

What led Leicester to Cifuentes?

When chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha flew to London earlier this month to conduct interviews, there was a school of thought at Leicester that an experienced boss was needed, with Chris Wilder a strong contender.

Yet Cifuentes won the day with an impressive interview and presentation, as well as similar approach to that of Maresca – who led Leicester to promotion a year ago.

Intriguingly, the Foxes believe Cifuentes shows more tactical flexibility that the Italian, who came under fire from some supporters for his rigid philosophy.

Mail Sport can also reveal that the compensation paid to Queens Park Rangers for Cifuentes was in fact considerably less than £500,000.

Leicester believe the Spaniard has the personality to unite a notoriously difficult dressing room, with a broad age range.

His connections to Nordic football could also prove crucial in what remains of the window.

A side note on the manager search. Even though Danny Rohl has a firm admirer at Leicester in technical director Martyn Glover, it is understood the Sheffield Wednesday boss was not interviewed for the role. A compensation issue, perhaps.

Which of the interviews and analysis videos that you've seen suggest that Marti is purely possession based football?

Interviews and analysis videos?  Come off it.  Life's too short.   By reputation I believe him to be another sideways merchant.  If I'm wrong, I'd be very happy about that.

We put far too much emphasis on interviews and presentations. With every appointment we make it comes out that they impressed Top with a presentation, which then changed the direction the club chose to go in. I genuinely think I'd stand a shot at being appointed if I got an interview.

Well run football clubs don't work like this. They do interviews, of course, but they are well researched going into them and know what they want. They don't let a banging powerpoint presentation sway their thinking from, say, an old school manager to, say, a Cruyff inspired continental manager.

Can’t remember which journo wrote it but one said Cooper had done a presentation about where he ranks amongst all managers in the top 5 leagues or something like that lmao

Listen, I don't disagree but if not for Tops fetish for a PowerPoint presentation, we would have ended up with Wilder so take the win.

Every other job on earth involves shortlisting candidates based on their CVS and experience, then having an interview waiting to see who impresses.  Why would well run football clubs not do the same?

Aiyawatt should be nowhere near these interviews.

It should be a highly skilled DOF with a clear plan who then tells him who best suits the club. Then if it doesn’t work out, the DOF is accountable.

We’ve got a polo playing rich baby who’s only football knowledge is wanting to play football like Man City micro managing everything he shouldn’t be.

It really is good to see that absolutely nothing changed at this internal review that provably never happened.

No, not a hunch.

I'll repeat myself just for you.

By reputation.

What s it with FT these days?  I'm blaming the hot weather for all this irritability.

Ah. The old "I know you are, but what am I?" retort.

Good one!

Gotta love the opinion police.

Have a nice weekend.
