What was most baffling is people stayed and clapped after that shit. I might not agree with booing but sure clapping requires something decent to have happened?!

 

This is 100% on Marti, I think the reason we got him is because he isn’t very good. Goes well with the rest of the club.

It's fine him saying the performance was arrogant/complacent but some of these players have been stinking the gaff out for years before Cifuentes arrived and are continuing to do so, yet don't seem in too much danger of not playing - no shit they're complacent. Similarly, all well and good telling them at the break how important it was for us to keep attacking and trying to score more goals in the second half but then to make the changes he did is really not great.

 

Disappointing it ended the way it did because first half I thought was actually a bit of an improvement, still not great by any means but you could see the difference made by having players at the top end of the pitch who want to do things other than drop into our defensive third and win free kicks.

Pereira - Benefits maybe due to not having to run as much but he was at one point one of the best right backs in the country. Surely he prefers the traditional right back position

 

Hamza - Not a right back/not a creative midfielder. Does not fit the role

 

Vesty - Benefits the most as his greatest asset is passing. Very worrying that the system benefits one of our worst players the most. To add to this, likely a reason why Okoli/Nelson aren’t getting game time which further makes the system baffling

Thomas - doesn’t know whether to attack or defend. Not really a LCB. Barely is even a LB

 

Wingers - Main strength of the team but get completely isolated with no full back to help out

 

Strikers - overcrowding in the middle means harder to find space. Also suffer from slow build up play and lack of chance creation

💯 Marti out, I’ve not seen a reason otherwise. We have the best team in the division and playing against poor opposition every week but create nothing, how people defend the guy is mind boggling

Yes we should have beaten Wrexham but to say we have the best team in the division I would disagree, probably the most expensive side yes, but we are not the best in my eyes.

Ruud impressed me (false dawn) when he first came and said he wasn’t a romantic and set to a particular style but we all know how that panned out.

Also, during pre-season we were able to offer a high press as he actually played academy players who had the athleticism to do it.

It's fascinating how the Marti out crowd believes all our players are shyte and that we have the best squad in the division, and sees no contradiction in those two positions.

No chance. Fatawu, Winks and Pereira stand out. Possibly Monga too. The rest are cloggers, barely competent on a good day.

 

Other teams around us have spent years building teams specifically for competing in the Championship. We're relying on the residual quality of a squad of serial failures, who largely think they're a lot better than they are.

 

Blame Cifuentes if you want, but the damage was done in the summer.

It was done last summer IMO.

 

We had a horrific PL transfer window and none of the players bought out of Skipp, Soumare and Reid improve the starting 11.

Let's be fair. The first half was good. We played good attacking football and got in behind Wrexham 3-4 times. We pressed, we were aggressive, we controlled the game. That was his identity and picking Daka helped, rather than playing ponderous Grandpa Jordan as a CF. Second half was poor and he called it right, there was an arrogance about us that we thought we had it sewn up. The subs were bad and Skipp should be nowhere near the team and probably Soumare too. But let's have it right, the arrogant dross still at this club and part of the first team squad are badly weighing us down, not just footballing-wise but financially. That isn't on Marti, that's on the idiots who have handled our transfer  and contract management for the past 6 years. The same idiots who are still at the club. Where i have a problem with Marti is not following through on his youth vision policy. There is no doubt that Nelson should be starting, Aluko should be starting, Page should be getting eased into the team like Monga. Rudkin & Top are the real villians here.

We're not really playing with an inverted fullback, it's just that the fullbacks are pretty much staying at home.  It's not like Hamza is dropping in next to Winks to allow JJ to move forward.  Choudhury and Thomas are just both generally wank on the ball.  We get very little from them other than being bodies on the pitch.

Apart from a bit more desire… what progress has been made by Marti? 
 

I could understand if we looked like we had a clear style that was improving gradually game by game. We don’t, it’s boring and we don’t look threatening at all. Give the ball to Abdul and hope he creates some magic is the plan. 
 

I wanted to Marti’s personality and attitude towards the club but these performances and just boring. I’m slowly losing interest.
