I know not everyone buys into it but I bet our xG created for the season so far is incredibly low

Opta has us down as 8.68 which ranks us 16th in the league.

Also despite conceding 7 goals, our xGA number is pretty shoddy too, currently the 7th worst team in the league.

Some of the numbers we are producing atm certainly don’t scream promotion candidates.

Okoli is crap, Faes is crap, Vesty is slow, Nelson is injured.

Winks and James in midfield is a given as we saw

The transfer window is closed

We have little money even if it were open

How about we stop relying on our wingers and flood the midfield, play two 10's, or God forbid, a 10 and two strikers, just for a change of pace?

I'll go with that

The xG numbers over a longer period of time are rarely wrong. Like I'd been telling everyone over the weekend - we've been absolutely mediocre at best. Chances created at both ends are all that truly matters in terms of performance, and then finishing them off in terms of getting results. Passing it around with zero threat is precisely that - zero threat.

Our chance creation is bad. Our finishing is often bad. We won't get near the top 6 on this performance level, let alone top 2.

Im less angry than most. We are about where i thought we might be.

I think on the face of it there just feels like there are wasted opportunities.  I think I would rather see more of Nelson and Aluko even if it meant being slightly further down the table.

With the positions we have found ourselves in we could be in a much better position. But then, i all EPL teams will think like this, apart from Middlesbrough.

I do wonder how long Marti will stick with Vestergaard though. Definitely looks like there are cracks appearing in that relationship.

I think my issue is, I’m fine with being average if we do it for the right reasons. If it was because we are being patient with youth for future gain, I’d understand.

but not because we are continuing with the cancers from the club

Sorry if it was mentioned already but did Marti say why he made so many changes that unsettled the team and gave Wrexham extra impetus to attack?

I know players fatigue and that can affect performances. I also have some sympathy for the manager as he surely knows by now subs like skipp and ayew and others are not the answer if we’re trying to hold out for a 1-0 lead. 3 points were there for the taking. We were poor 2nd half but those 3 points were vital. I’m just baffled as to what he was thinking will happen

We’re producing average performances with no real sign of it getting better but it’s not like the team is full of kids, it’s the same useless oafs we all know are crap. It all just seems a bit pointless.

We know Ayew is shite. He has zero stand out qualities and to make it worse he’s a selfish ****er. How is that helping us long term?

Skipp should be absolutely nowhere near the squad. Likewise Kristiansen imo! No business being involved.

People probably think I want a team full of academy kids the way I bang on about it but you could be a lot more forgiving about us being a “work in progress” if for example you had Aluko involved or Page. Not even starting every game but just involved.

Tell me who would you rather see come off the bench. Ayew, Skipp & Kristiansen or Evans, Page & Aluko.

I’m so fed up with these guys who have shown NOTHING for years stinking out the team.

I understand that the life of a manager is heavily weighted by "what have you done for me lately."  And with that, they may not want to make squad/starting XI changes  that greatly rock the boat.

That said, it is insane to continually play the same players that have let the club (and the previous three or so managers) down time and time again, expecting that things will now be different.

Marti has got to have an a-ha moment in the near future, and make wholesale changes in the matchday squad, or we will be stuck in neutral in perpetuity.

We're in an odd situation where we seem to be shooting a lot more but aren't creating great chances. Last year at times we barely looked like doing either.

The last 2 games we've had 27 shots, with 2 being on target. Excluding Sheff Weds, Oxford and Cov games, we don't frequently get more than 1/2/3 shots on target

We need to get forward quicker, more bodies in the box and crosses coming in instead of the wingers trying to beat 3 men and score get Fatawu on the left whipping them in etc

The problem is clear I think, in that once Fatawu and/or Mavididi do not offer a threat we recycle it back and try again,  whereas the centre midfield needs to busting a gut to get in the box. I mean ideally Winks would be threading balls forward to a savvy forward providing good movement, but that’s something we don’t seem to have at present.

Hard to create chance when you first thought is to play backwards.

Our wingers are 1-1, they recycle it backwards to the CM or FB and then get it back only to be double up.

What you're describing there is 'improvement'. I do appreciate it's hard to recognise, as we've not had the pleasure of seeing any under RVN or Cooper.

And yet we are 5th.

Am I the only person who thinks we're doing better than expected at the moment?

Many were saying we would be relegated again, most pundits said we'd finish outside the play-offs, practically no one has predicted automatical promotion.

I myself was resigned to at least another season in this league, thinking it would take a while to turn us around.

But no, so many think it should be done in 7-8 games.

I expected and still expect promotion because we have the best squad in the league.  The problem is that the majority of them were bought to play in the Premier League.  They've shown that they are not good enough for that but overall, few, if any have a better squad in this league..

Is it improvement or are we just playing in a worse league?

I think a lot of people have realised how horrendous the teams in this league are, which  brings more criticism to our shite team as we cant capitalise, yea we are a poor outfit and didn’t expect much this season, but the teams around us are honking to! I expected us to struggle tbf but the shock is I didn’t expect the league to be so poor, not getting promoted with the shite on display would be pretty horrific now tbf

Let's see how we look with Ramsey in the side. He's a potential difference-maker and gives us qualities we're severely lacking with the current bunch.

I think it's a bit weird. We've been awful. But somehow still 5th. I think it's just a really, really poor division this year. A decent striker and number 10 away from a promotion push. Though at the same time we could easily go on a run of losses if performances don't improve.
