we had it about 7 years ago and it was a total national embarassment. why the **** would we want it here again so all the bucket hatted coke sniffers and door rushers can turn us into a laughing stock in front of the whole of europe.

That was because Wembley was inexplicably a third empty

I would say how the uk is able to handle and build up enthusiasm for large scale events is the envy of the world.

I have no confidence in this government running a bath, let alone a regulatory body of the nation's sport when so many of them have virtually zero knowledge of the game or the fan culture in this country. Anything less than an string of inadequate interventions and the game's done well. Just a shame football couldn't get its own house in order.

It is a bit rich the Uniparty Blob Government demanding that "clubs have a long term sustainable financial future" when the country is hurtling towards an IMF bail out and societal collapse.

Reckless politicians calling for tests to stop reckless owners?  How ironic.

New standards on fan engagement? Has anyone had to deal with the HMRC lately, Jesus wept.

How about fair financial disruption for UK citizens and not dumping money abroad before talking about fair financial distribution between leagues.

Protection for key club heritage? Apply the same protection to British culture first, oh wait sorry that's waycist.

Shambles Government. Pissweasels. Get rid.

Pubs are closing but chippies are doing ok.  Especially as most good ones do onions bhaji's and chicken tikka kebabs.

Has there ever been a unified idea of what British culture actually is? People in this country have always had different cultural values depending on age, class, whereabouts in the country they grew up etc.

Think of the bury situation.... where an owner could gamble with the club and then walk away.

I would not introduce a regulator.... but

... owners should lodge a bond (1m in div 2...) that they lose if the club goes into admin

... stop clubs buying on the never

... no more prioritizing football debts

Giving more money to lower league clubs just inflates footballer wages amd agent payments... worse it  increases financial volatility making failure more likely

On the face of it, it sounds like a good idea but no UK government (red or blue) will be well enough informed, impartial enough and wise enough to implement sensible reforms. Our politicians just ain't good enough.

We should just copy the Germans.

Ultimately, politicians can be bought with power/money/favours.

So a regulator costs people a bit more money, but it's not gonna stop them getting what they want.

Question - given that multiple clubs are now owned by majority foreign investors, with no cultural attachment to the English game, does the regulator have enough power to fight these billionaire owners?

Secondly - does the regulator understand the concerns of fans about growing American influence in the English game, in light of the announcement that Spain's La Liga has sanctioned a competitive league match to be played in the US?

We have secured a meeting with the Interim Chief Operating Officer for the new independent regulator, Martyn Henderson, on Tuesday 9th September.

Hope he's better  at regulating than he was as a goalscorer.

Playing a game in the US is so tinpot as a league and I hope we don’t ever do that. Devalues your league imo.

If it’s a foreign coach managing mostly foreign players in the US how is it even relevant to the original club at all? Ridiculous.

Will they be addressing the FFP situation? Of when accounts can be submitted, how long they need to scrutinise them, and most importantly when they apply any sanctions?

Will they apply set rules, or will smiling nicely like Forest get you a reduced points deduction?

How about owners putting money into an escrow account upfront each year?

I’m sure they’ll be having lots of lunches and dinners before they can have a look at your list

The write up of our meeting with the regulator is now up. May be of interest to people.

Great write up and progress made. It is now clear the personnel changes to the foxes trust are coming to fruition. Hopefully the disillusioned amongst our fan base are joining the trust and getting behind the momentum.

Thank you and I know you did press questions I posed and received responses. Let’s be clear this regulator is just a tick box exercise taking money from the football trough. Just a new set of pigs to feed. As the responses show this will do nothing for supporters. They are spinning us. The fact that all 116 clubs are automatically licensed means there is little this regulator can do. Is he going to say I will withdraw Sheffield Wednesdays license now? No because your head would spin with the speed with which lawyers react. Sorry to say Foxes Trust you  and the FSA are dreaming to think this office or the people appointed to it will do anything to the benefit of supporters. Mark my words the IFR will not prevent clubs going to the wall they will only further propagate corrupt anti competitor practices at the EPL and EFL.
