It's subjective on how bad we did on the last PSR accounts.

 

If we use the very crude nature of comparing our last EFL accounts and other clubs doing the drop, you've got to be turning over near £50m transfer sales. EDIT: That's to make this PSR year a break even too excluding the likely damage of last year. 

 

According to Swiss Ramble, we made a PSR profit of £1.5m last time in the Championship.

Sunderland can buy him, but will be selling next season once they are relgated back down here. Its  a one season punt and hope for the best. Seems the be what all promoted teams do to "compete".

Yeah maybe, but equally we probably had about a 30% chance of staying up at that point so losing him on the final day would have been a risk. Obviously in hindsight we didn’t play him.

 

I agree re the last part, we clearly thought we could do what we want 3 years ago.

 

I think our change in approach this summer has less about PSR and more about KP removing top as CEO meaning he can no longer make the decisions to prop us up, and therefore we are now working to be self sufficient which we are a million miles away from doing.

And an extra sprinkling of profit on top with the offers we turned down for Iversen and Thomas, one gone for nothing and the other potentially doing likewise at the end of the season. Rejecting good offers for bad players so there's even more pressure on us to accept bad offers for good players - the Leicester way.

He did, but only 5 goal contributions in those 30 games isn't particularly good?

 

You do usually have a bit of an English tax as well so you may well be right. Hopefully the club are in a better position to be firmer negotiators after the recent sales and we can demand a bigger fee.

The Iversen affair was just inexplicable - completely unique incompetence.

 

I'm half-expecting us to use up some of Rudkin's limited bandwidth to sign a third choice keeper. It's like it's enshrined in KP leicester law we have to have 3 senior GKs (e.g Smithies) whilst Rome burns.

If we do, is put money on it being one of our ex keepers. Heard that one specifically was probably used to get the Begovic signing across the line.

The club is delighted to confirm the re-signing of stalwart keeper Mark Schwarzer. The 52 year old has a wealth of experience and was famously part of the 2015- 2016 title winning squad. "It's great to be back and helping the young keepers in the squad like Jakob and Asmir".

Selling nearly 70m of players that were pure profit, allowed incomings. As did failing to submit the forecast until the accounts were balanced.

Plus we have the tightest limits for complying with PSR in 10 seasons

In fairness to the latter two, it be silly to lump them into the not knowing anything crowd. They're definitely being given information by agents / clubs.

 

Based on Sunderland's approach to recruitment stats analysis signing young and hungry players - Fatawu would have been on a shortlist I'm sure. Now they're premier league they're showing ambition !

It’s one thing selling star players, it’s another if they are not replaced and the squad is not strengthened because of the sheer incompetence at board level.

Once we are left with players no one wants, what’s next season the training ground? Women’s team?

I bet they are hoping Monga has a storming season
