The EFL summer transfer window closes at 7PM on the 1st September.

Crikey, has Michael Golding been going to the same guy that measures Kasey McAteer’s height?

Did not realise that VK is 2 years younger than Luke

Is this current? If so, we have potentially a first team squad of 27 although I'm not sure if Alves and Golding (29!) should be included?

No vacancies yet, it seems.

You've got a few 21 year olds in that list, doesn't the date they reach 21 make a difference?

And Michael Golding - 29 - really?!

Michael Golding was a typo!

If they’re 21, they also need to be registered as well.

21 now, or on 1 September? If the latter, is that why you've got 20 year old Alves in?

I think you can, you just do an edit.

It won’t let me edit it for some reason.

It’s 21 on the 21st September I believe, when  registration goes in.

I guess the challenge we’re going to have is now.

With the rumoured sales and no noise on incomings, we’ll now have space either way I would imagine.

By the end of the window Bilal will gone, alongside Kacey surprisingly. I think if JJ proves his fitness he may be gone and there is still interest in Italy for Caleb

I hope someone comes in for Bouba and BDCR and I can see Braybrooke and Wanya at least being loaned out. So I think there will be spaces to fill, its just making sure we do it with quality.

Our recent record whether its permanents or loans has been poor, but id be looking at players from the big 6, plus the likes of Villas, under 23 squads for loans .. i cant see us having much more to play with tbh

I think that loans can still be done after the window closes in some circumstances. If that lot go then we could be down to about 19 registered squad players. Looks like we'll have a few vacancies to fill.

Odd window really. Delighted to see us shift a few out and reduce the wage bill, albeit still left with one or two higher earners

Pushing for better fees for Bilal and possibly Abdul too is good to see us not rolling over.

Very odd the Kacey sale.. great for us, pure profit too.. just dont see what Ipswich see in him but best of look to the lad.

Covered Mads with an experienced freebie to allow Jakub to take the jersey which is great.

But again, not addressed the front line and no real cover in midfield, especially in the attacking sense is worrying

plenty of people were clamouring for the youth team to be developed and blooded..... this is potentially what it looks like.

I think you are likely to see lots of the younger guys being thrown in at the deep end. They are definitely likely to be Bench Fillers now I would think.

Page, Golding, Alves, all likely to make the bench.   Monga & Nelson too if they aren't in the starting 11.  Depending on what happens with JJ.... Aluko is likely to be starting at right back or on the bench if Ricardo isn't fit.

If Winks does Go... I suspect we see him at the base of the Midfield, so it's unlikely he slots in at RB either.

now they MIGHT swim.... but it's a large gamble based on a desire to be back in the premier league.

gut instinct from me, says that not all of those players will be operating at the required level.

but I guess we will wait and see....

Postion    1st Choice    Back Up    Extras
GB    Stolarczyk    Begovic
RB    Pereira    Justin    (Coulibaly - our only paid transfer since September 1st 2025)
LB    Kristiansen    Thomas
CB    Vestegaard    Faes    Souttar
CB    Okoli    Nelson
DM    Winks    Skipp    Page?
DM    Soumare    Choudhary
AMR    Fatawu    Monga
AMC    El Khannouss    Cordova - Reid
AML    Mavididi    Evans?    Marcal
S    Ayew    Daka

This is effectively our squad - I've not got promotion feelings looking at this

Our only signing in a year has been a 3rd choice Right Back

1st Choice GK - relegated from the football league 2 years ago

We effectively have to play 2 of Vestegaard, Faes or Okoli - none of which want to be at the club

The choice of DM between Soumare, Choudhary & Skipp - none are screaming pick me

We are going to be relying on very young wingers - Monga looks great, but overrelying on youth in one area is dangerous

If Bilal is sold or gets injured we have to rely on Bobby Reid for creativity

Ayew won't pass, but has not scored more than 5 goals in a season in 6 years backed up by a striker whose best season in the UK was 7 goals

Depressing though.

but wasn't "Just play the kids" part of people's wishes with RVN last year?

i'm firmly of the belief that if they are "good enough" they will break through against established professionals, albeit, that's been pushed back on me quite hard recently.  I'm told that it's an outdated view and established professionals are preferred over younger players who are "obviously" better than them.

personal opinion.... but if the younger players are outperforming an established player in training why WOULDN'T a manager pick them....   I can't imagine any manager deliberately picks a team he knows to be inferior to the options available to him.

I'd love every single one of those youngsters to build a fantastic career in football in the PL... but Statistically... it's highly highly unlikely to be the case.

Ashby have an FA Youth Cup winning player on their team... sometimes... the young kids just don't make it in the professional game despite being good at their Age Group.  It's a different thing entirely when you are competing against players who HAVE made the grade and are building a career out of the game....
