Let's make no mistake Page is going to the very top, He is playing out of position as a centre mid he is more of a CAM . The way he started the season in the CAM role was brilliant .

I thought he was the best player on the pitch vs Charlton (A) & Birmingham (H) after that for whatever reason Marti fell in love with BDR .

Definitely looks like more of a CM than a 10. Played that role for England U17's, for us in pre season etc. and has played even deeper. He'll be much better longer term as centre mid who can do a bit of everything.

Been thinking about him and indeed Monga, and yes there will be others, players who aren’t yet able to sign longer term contracts than 3 years.

Their early progress to first team football will I believe potentially be more a negative long term than a positive.

Top category academy after academy have had their 16/17&18 year olds poached because clubs like Chelsea , City and Utd  will be having a word in the ears of these players agents and whereas LC will be offering say £3k a week those clubs will be talking about £10k or even more.

Sadly, but understandably, no young player with ambitions and options is going to choose to play in the Championship or even less likely EFL if they can increase earnings and exposure at a higher level . Sentiment is one thing but these youngsters will, when on international duty, be mixing with fellow youngsters whose wages will be multiples of what LC can pay and the agents of these players will be nagging away .

Even worse  is that the big clubs won’t be paying the big bucks  to non PL clubs for academy players with relatively short term contracts indeed those contracts in a  blink of an eye are down to two then one year without the security of long term contracts the club will be put behind a rock and a hard place.Bear in mind compensation outside of England is multiples less .

He is an 8 but isn’t quite there yet as it stands to be playing there in competitive minutes at this level. I’d be giving him minutes in the attacking midfield role and loaning him into League one at the end of the season for 6 months specifically to play the 8 role

BDCR has 5 goals and 1 assist in 24, thats quite a good return

I don't think he suits a 2 but he looks like he'd suit a midfield 3 being the playmaker to me. I wouldn't say an out and out 10 at the minute.

Just me then that thinks he is absolutely nowhere near good enough or physical enough for this level - mukasa did more in 45 mins as a 10 than page has in all his minutes out together - if he starts games between now and the end of season we definitely go down

Only Fats and James better, so yea. Page a good prospect and should get game time but BDCR has been decent for us in patches (yes he has games where he disappears, but so does everyone)

I would say that comparing him to other players in this squad doesn't make it a good return. We are the pits.

Compare him to the rest of the league (especially those on similar wages) and his return looks pitiful.

BDCR scored a few screamers bunched up together across November-Decemeber and has done absolutely nothing since. Not even came close to scoring and he set up goal against Cov - his only assist of the season. Rubbish player and one I expected a lot more from this season. The lack of creativity in the middle is a big problem, it's only Fatawu that creates anything. Thomas has our second most assists and they're mostly just the pass before screamers.

Louis page has 1 assist in 15 apps

There is no doubting he has a higher salary and needs minutes, but at the moment BDCR has better returns you literally can't disagree with that - it is a fact.

I think BDCR has scored some really important goals for us, maybe given us 6 points or so from his goals. That could be the difference between staying up and going down

yea he is on a high salary, he can't help that. He gets a lot of stick on here and I don't really get why, he is a decent championship player.

Lost sight of where we were for a second, he’ll be great for us down there next year you are dead right

Page, Aluko and Braybrooke particularly would be the one thing to be excited about in the event we go down. To a lesser extent, Alves but he hasn’t had the kick on season we’d have hoped and Evans but possibly too raw still. If he can’t force his way into a poor Northampton side, he probably won’t be starting for us.

1 assist in 15 apps but 457 minutes. Reid has scored some goals but he's been missing in action since the spell late last year. I'm not saying Page is the answer but neither is BDCR who is starting to decline anyway.

It's remarkable we have a squad with one actual striker and our only proper 10 is always injured and on loan.

BCDR is a good goal scorer but he has probably lost us more points this season by losing the ball too easily in midfield.

Page on the other hand is not as composed in front of goal but he loses the ball a lot less.

Isn’t that the coaches and managers job

he is getting valuable mins in the championship

Sadly we don't have either at the Club. If we did we wouldn't be in as big a mess as we are.

Yes, He's getting valuable minutes, but wouldn't he learn so much quicker if he had someone advising him on Positioning, Timing,  When and where to go. etc.

Shortlisted for the Championship Apprentice of the Season.

Alongside Leo Pecover (Bristol City) and Sheldon Kendall (Millwall).

He's younger than the other two and has played about 10x more minutes so I'm sure he's quite likely to win.

No massive Reid fan but yes it really is, over 46 games that is just under ten goals which is a decent return. Find me 12 other players in his role that match that and we can call those stats average for the league. Can not wrap my head around the hatred for him in particular, signed on a free, not as if he was a massive issue in making other signings, if we had signed well rather than spending 35m on Ayew and Skipp he would’ve been a stable squad option for a survival side, and is certainly an alright squad option in the championship. He has not even been close to our worst this year, if he was called Boberto Reidinho I bet some of the spackers on here would love him, for the record he is pretty crap but is not even close to our biggest issue. Say it too often but at least he tries, would take him over Steph Maviwanky 10 times out of ten

Say it too often as in trying being the imperative for being an alright squad member rather than being good at footy

BDCR has been a real disappointment. Goals are great and he’s one of our better finishers but remember he’s not a number 9, he’s a midfielder and his involvement in general play hasnt been enough. He’s too often anonymous and part of the reason we are out worked and outplayed. Remember this guy was signed as an experienced Premier League player (as reflected in his wage), not as a Championship squad option. The fact he doesn’t ever start despite our league position in the 2nd tier says it all.

Said it in the Winks thread but Page's treatment/game time has been one of the worst failings of the club this season.

He didn't look physically up to it when he started the season so I think it was fair that he wasn't really involved. But after he went away with the England U17's (I think) and came back in to the side, he looked a completely different beast. Was so calm in possession and was now able to handle himself whilst putting himself about. So should have been a shoe in for the starting XI, let alone the matchday squad and what happens, he's immediately dropped for Harry Winks who doesn't want to be here and frankly, is inferior to Page is every aspect of the game (at least at the moment). Yet again sends out a crap message to the younger players at this club.
