Did we genuinely just play him in a few games to get him to sign a pro deal and then boot him to the bottom of the squad pecking order?

Yes

To be fair he was a passenger in the games he's played.

He played because we where thread bare, at 17 he's ahead of schedule.

He's time will come again.

Oooh you’re not allowed to say these things about Page you’ll get piled on

Not won a game since he was dropped mind you. Whilst I agree he was very raw, we were winning the ball much higher up the pitch when he played. Not seen enough of that yet from anyone else. Hopefully James slots in next to Winks and we get the 3 behind the striker correct to be more of a goalscoring threat.

Put it this way, if academy players were in and we'd gone from winning to not winning, that would have been used as a reason.

Not as frustrated with this one as the Ben Nelson situation,

Page came in and looked pretty ok, but it also looked like senior football had arrived a little too soon for him especially at Charlton- in a important position where you have to provide that link between midfield and attack

He’s only 17 so he’ll have his time for sure, great talent for our future and I’m sure towards Easter he’ll be in and around the first team more ( especially if we get rid of a couple of bodies in Jan) but I think he’ll benefit more from playing consistent minutes at 21’s at the moment than 10-15 for first team every 3-4 games,

Monga and Nelson look more prepared for the first team minutes in my opinion 🦊

Also got us the point as Oxford as well as it prepared us for playing with 10 men.

Maybe, but to say that we've stopped winning (we also haven't lost since he was dropped so you can cut it either way) becasue we've dropped him is a stretch imo, there are a lot of factors in the Oxford and Cov game inparticular which are much bigger reasons for not winning those games.

Not much you can do when subbed off at 56 minutes whilst playing as a 10 in this system which is pretty isolated.

Will be interesting when Ramsey is back, not sure he is going to fare much better.

I get the desire to promote youth and start relying more on the academy, but the clamoring for Page is a little strange.

I watched him closely in the games he played and his first touch was really poor and he pretty much always played safe. Even his assist was a bad pass to Fatawu.

He just looked nowhere near ready yet, which is fine considering he's not long turned 17. You just need a bit of patience with some players whilst others are ready earlier.

For me it is more that I would like to see him on the bench and coming on in games to develop with more minutes

He shouldn't be starting though I agree

He’s got a lot of energy and was always willing to get the ball. Being involved in the goal with Fatawu must have felt great for him.

Completely agree.
