Looking for the inside track. Anyone know?

Anyone care to tell?

Anyone even here?

Where is good to stay?

Good to go?

Should I go solo (business to do out there so possible) or take wife and kids ? Age of kids is 13/14. Will they find value?

Any input hugely appreciated. Any foxes out there, happy to come find you and buy you a beer.

Never spent time in Belfast unfortunately and only had one brief visit to Antrim as above. Fantastic part of the world with great people. Would love to spend more time there.

Take them there is loads to do.

Or don't take them and get wrecked in the amazing selection of bars.

Both options are viable, one of the best cities in the UK for me.

Best part of Ireland IMO. Be a shame if it leaves the UK.

I liked what little I've seen of the north more than the south.

Unification makes perfect sense though.

It will be more expensive to visit and I don't think the North has a housing crisis at present. I suspect it won't ever be the same should it happen.

The Titanic Museum in Belfast is superb.   Fascinating place.   Give yourself plenty of time ... there's so much to see and read about.

Thankyou everyone. I have one further question. Assuming I  have a commitment which may vary but might allow me to be there for a week, but with all evenings available and probably most days; what are the cant miss experiences? Noting already the above.

If you head to St George's Market, there a stall called Lagans Ribs. Sells hot sauces. The owner is a huge Leicester fan even though he's Belfast born and bred. I was wearing my Leicester hoodie when I was there earlier this year and he lept from his stall in excitement as soon as he spotted me. Top bloke. Pay him a visit and support a fellow Foxes fan. Plus the market is a nice way to spends a few hours, look at a few locally made things and try some local food.

Peace wall taxi tour is a must.

Giants causeway if you are out and about.

I personally much prefer Belfast to Dublin. The food scene is very good, much cheaper for a pint of the black stuff than Dublin too.

Like others have said, getting out to the causeway is a must. Some lovely little towns on the way too, Carnlough of Game of thrones fame in particular. I also really liked the Ulster museum which I believe is free?

IF it’s your thing, a west Belfast tour is informative whether a walking one or taxi, but obviously it’s very political, has major references to violence and might feel a bit sketchy.

As others have said, the coast is very dramatic and not far as outside of the cities roads are much less clogged, so easier to get about. If you are a drinker or just a connoisseur of people then it has some wonderfully ornate and idiosyncratic bars such as The Crown. I always found Belfast to have a bit more of an edge (understandably) to it than south of the border, but to be fair it's about 15 years since I've been now, so it may have mellowed a bit more. It's a city of real contrast, trying to reinvent itself and be modern and outgoing, but you are never too far from the darkness....

Titanic museum is great and worth a visit.

As others have said, Black Taxi tour to the peace walls is also decent albeit overpriced and slightly overhyped. If you are to visit that side of town I would do it as taxi tour rather than on foot (And be prepared to see a Netanyahu mural...)

Bar culture is great and the food prices are quite good too. Harp is a much better lager than Rockshore but stick to the Guiness if you can.

Kelly Cellars is a must visit for a really solid night out in a fairly traditional pub.

Where I used to work, we had our VC backers based in Belfast, so all of our quarterly leadership meetings were based there. It's a really solid night.... just make sure you go to the "right" bars.... there is still a slight undertone if you have an English accent and are in the wrong one.
