Looking at how well Slot, Glasner, and Iraolo have done since coming to this country makes it even more frustrating when you think these are the names we should have looked at when Rodgers was fvcking everything up.
Are there other managers who we should have gone for? Corberan is another we should have got when Maresca went. He’s completely turned around Valencia. Instead we wasted 30m+ on Skipp and Ayew.
Thomas Frank is another when he was at Brentford and Rodgers was fvcking it up.
Those that think we’d have never got someone like Glasner should consider that he joined Palace who hadn’t won anything and had just won the Europa League.
More to do with the fact that we never hire anyone who hasn’t managed in this country which is baffling especially when you consider how well Palace, Brighton, and Bournemouth have done in that approach.

Don't forget we missed out on Russell Martin too - who was so successful at Southampton last season and Rangers.

We could have also had Chris Wilder which wouldn't have suited the club and everyone wanted Graham Potter who has done what exactly since leaving Brighton.

Of course we missed out on good manager, but we have also avoided some bad managers

We have appointed good managers and some bad managers

Who is to say a manager who has success at another club would have worked with Leicester - especially given our wonderful recruitment and financial mismanagement in the past few years?

Emery went to Villa just as we were hitting our slump. Started badly at Villa this season but they went from 14th to 7th, 4th and 6th last season.

At the time I think we were 1 point ahead of them.

Palace, Brighton and Bournemouth's approach extends beyond hiring a foreign manager though — we could get one in tomorrow and we'd still be agent-lead in most of our signings and doling out contracts to shite.

I agree but at one point we were so far ahead of these sides it’s frightening to think how far we’ve fallen. All down to the approach of being reactive rather than proactive.

I don’t think we do badly hiring decent managers. There’s been more hits than misses in recent years. (Last season obviously a disaster, though)

It’s the network behind them where we fail.

We can continue missing out on Potter and Martin. Potter is vastly overrated and Martin is just shit.

Absolute certainty that we offer both an interview when Marti's time is over.

I could understand the interest in Potter we have but Martin makes no sense whatsoever.
As I said I wouldn’t want either of them.

Still think corberan would have been good for us

I don't disagree but also I don't think many managers stand a fighting chance when your Director of Football wants to spend £25m on Oliver Skipp.

Emery is the one that pisses me off the most.

Villa and Leicester were both underperforming yet Villa pulled the trigger and sacked Gerrard while we just sat and watched. Emery would have definitely come here and would have been exactly the right sort of person to come in for Rodgers.

Rodgers was never a bad manager but we got to the point where we needed to refresh. We were stagnating under him and his ego and Emery would have come in and improved us immediately.

It would have brought the fans and players back onside.

You'd have had loads of people on here taking the piss out of his accent though like they did with Puel

those 2 clowns are as bad as Cooper IMHO .  RvN presumably turned up at the club to fix the photocopier and accidentally landed the managers job.

Emery went to Villa and not only did they bankroll him with millions they also very quickly brought in his chosen DOF in Monchi.

Neither was going to happen here. Although, Top might have promised it in had he been interviewed.

I don’t think Emery would’ve come here at that time because of our (stubborn) position on two points above at the time.

Potter did a fantastic Job at Brighton.  Chelsea he was poor but I think he wasn’t given enough time at west ham

his best bet is to go back to a Club that will give him time to do his thing and build up team. I don’t think he’s a terrible manager I think  he believed his own hype.

brighton improved massively under subsequent managers so fantastic job might be a bit much. clearly they have a good team for scouting and signing players.

Dont underestimate coopers role in that signing.

Cooper coached skipp at England youth levels, and would have been well aware of him at u18s when he was running the 17s after he moved up squads, I would bet my life he personally pushed for him

Did he? One season where they finished mid table other than that they were finishing bottom 6 regularly. De Zerbi came in and improved them massively. Imo he’s vastly overrated for doing a decent job at Brighton, failing at Chelsea and would have eventually took West Ham down. He’s a distinctly average manager but no doubt he’ll end up here. He’s the modern hipsters choice of manager even though he’s less than convincing. Can understand why he’s touting himself for the Sweden job.
