South Shire Fox Posted 25 January Posted 25 January (edited) Think the only realistic managers they would get at the moment would be Rowett and Tony Mowbray. But lets be honest they would both be an improvement on the Spanish waiter. I know Rowett hasnt been great in the last few years but he was a solid manager before. Plus he was well liked when he was here as a player so will give the club a much needed morale boost. Id rather Mowbray out the two though, hes been a solid EFL manager over the years. Club just needs someone to arrest the slump and get us through to the summer without dropping down to League one. Edited 25 January by South Shire Fox 1
Popular Post Collymore Posted 25 January Popular Post Posted 25 January Tony Mowbray for me. Did an absolutely amazing job at Sunderland getting rid of spoilt brats and focusing on youth playing exciting football. Exactly what we need and can back it up with actions not words. 8

Shane Posted 25 January Posted 25 January Nice to see Fuchs getting some praise. General consensus amongst their fans seems to be that he’s got them more organised with a clear style of play. Not saying he should be Marti’s replacement, but hopefully he continues to progress as a manager. 2
BrilliantFox Posted 25 January Posted 25 January Any manager that will freeze Luke Thomas out I will back them.

I reckon he would be a good appointment in the summer as he is cut from the sam cloth as Pearson as he was on of his signings. 1

Can’t think who that was……. Yep, because he did a solid job in France. Might have to get another essay ready on why we should appoint him 1

If he came here and got us a similar tally while improving our defence, pressing and general play then I think that’s Job done. Just keep us in the league with the pending points deduction and have us more organised and creating chances/pressing. 1

The fact Julian Stephen ended up at QPR, I’d put Haise on a similar wavelength. The job he did at Lens was incredible. But you just know what our list will consist of. It will probably be Martin or Rowett. 1

He was diagnosed with bowel cancer before taking the job at WBA and that will have taken a toll on him. Still would take him though.

I’d be happy with Mowbray. Amad Diallo was brilliant under him and feels like the sort of manager that could get the best out of Fatawu & even Mavididi. I’d be fairly confident we’d win enough games under him to stay up. 1
Corky Posted 25 January Posted 25 January Aren't we still heavily agency-based as well as having very narrow visions?

Tiny earl Posted 25 January Posted 25 January I don’t think Tony Mowbray would need the stress of working for incompetent morons.

I would say he would get more than 19. Wasnt saying 19pts from 17 is good. How did he do in the jobs before his previous job? Edited 25 January by Muzzy_no7

I shouldn’t have been passive aggressive so as much there so apologies for that. I do disagree with this point though. What we need, short and long term, is defensive stability, hard work and discipline. We are in the top 6 for goal scored I think. Whilst we watch us and know we create little, we are, most of the time, scoring enough to win games. We are then second worst I believe for goals conceded. Even short term this season, we’d benefit a lot more from someone who could improve these areas. Ange doesn’t bring this. He is emotional and chaotic. We don’t have the ability to score so many more that we can continue to be as shambolic defensively. I’d sooner have a Mowbray type to go back to basics as that’s what we need to do. Think back to the great escape season with Pearson. We didn’t conceded more than 2 goals in a game that many times for a struggling side. We were in games all the time. Even this season, in this league, the amount of times we are not even competitive in games is shocking. And that’s down to defensive structure, attitude and discipline. Give me a Morgan type, a Fuchs type. Start at the back and go back to basics. That is what this club needs. 1
