Mickyblueeyes Posted 26 January Posted 26 January I honestly think they’ll see how it goes with King and prefer to go for someone in the summer if they can. We are so lazy, slow with out approach. We will have no one in mind and the easiest option is a caretaker who manages to get a few decent results. With it being King, I hope he does do well but it’s not in our interest to just give up on another season. 4

England U21s manager, I wouldnt be against him having joint jobs. Could help us attract U21 players on loan to possible purchases. Go back to our old model what actually worked. If we could get it right with our youth coming through, the odd loan and experience then why not. I would happy with it The only potential issue I could see is that as he has never properly been a club manager he may need a pretty good Director of Football above him to help with the stuff he has never had to deal with before Although maybe he will know someone in the England setup he could bring with him for it 1

Death by Football Posted 26 January Posted 26 January I hope Kingy does a good job as I reckon he'll be in the hot seat for a while. The fact that it looks like Top was here to back the manager prior to the match shows how ill prepared the board are in terms of a replacement. I doubt they've got a short list that goes any further than Russell Martin. I just hope that King doesn't end up damaging his status at the club on the back of being unable to motivate the utter bag of sh!t that passes for our team right now. 1

Compared to how highly rated the likes of Peter Taylor and Ian Holloway were when we appointed them. In truth you never quite know how a manager is going to fit in - and a lot seems to be down to luck. (I still really don't want Russell Martin, though!) We really did get incredibly lucky twice with O’Neill. First that it fell to sh!t with Norwich so we managed to get him in the first place, and secondly that he didn’t walk away after the Sheff Utd protest. Did we miss the boat on him when Nancy took over at Celtic? If we’d have pulled the plug on Marti then, would MON have come back?

Personally think there’s only one job in the world that MON would do and it’s a temp job at his beloved Celtic

I'd have thought more likely Rowett, Mowbray, but maybe even Hasenhuttl or someone like that. Edited 26 January by teblin
BrilliantFox Posted 26 January Posted 26 January The state of the names mentioned are shocking, I'd rather have Andy King remain till the summer. 3
Death by Football Posted 26 January Posted 26 January (edited) I wouldn't mind Rowett on an 18 month contract but I'm not sure if he's full of sh!t enough for Top and Rudders to be convinced of his aura. Edited 26 January by Death by Football
kingfox Posted 26 January Posted 26 January Glad I saw Tom Collomosse’s tweet first before posting my essay on why we should appoint Bo Henriksen.

You can't honestly believe Henriksen would ever realistically be on any shortlist. You know better. It'll be a boring household name that inspires zero excitement in anyone. Replacing Rudkin was a lie to keep us quiet for a while, it's not happening, Top and Rudkin will pick the replacement and it'll be the same rubbish they always pick. Enzo was a fluke. 2
Muzzy_no7 Posted 26 January Posted 26 January I think Carsley would be an OK appointment in June, but not now.

Happy Fox Posted 26 January Posted 26 January Gary Rowett would be abysmal. He seems a good guy and former Fox, but managing us would be too much for him. The most likely option that Rudkin and Aiyawatt are going for is either Mowbray, McClaren or Hughton I would have thought. 1

He has history of digging teams out the shit. A positive, energetic motivator who has shown he can galvanise a broken squad. Also prefers quick purposeful football. Knowing us it’s highly unlikely we even consider him, but we most definitely need his type of character right now.
