King is part of the Coaching staff now so is he not part is the current problem?

What evidence do yiu have to suggest he would make a good manager?

Absolutely none, and I didn't say he'd be a good manager. I just love Kingy.

As I've said in other threads (and here regarding Pearson) they'd be cynical appointments by the board, who know the fanbase will swallow more shit, for longer, as they are loved figures.

Oh, and when I say soothing for the soul, I just mean having those nostalgic faces in charge. All signs point to it continuing to be a disaster on the pitch, at the very least until (theoretically) Nigel is given a summer to fumigate the rat-ridden ship.

I love Nigel as much as the next person but I find this clamouring for the past to be really, really odd.

I saw someone calling for MON here the other week as well. It's baffling.

You can't just pretend it's 2008 or 1998 again. We need someone like Nigel but it won't be him. Remember the good times for what they were and move on.

Honestly, I Iove the man but he can't come back to the club in this state and have his reputation battered. He deserves better than this lot and his health is more important.

I think right now we need him, but I do sadly think you're more right than I am, he doesn't deserve this mess.

If he came in as DOF that would probably please everyone. It would also be less stressful on his health.

I don't think Leicester are good for anyone's health right now so prob best he stays away. We should be looking at what Nige and his team did right during that era as a model to rebuild the club and get out of this three year rolling FFP hell. I think he did three things well:

Signed players based on attitude. We have definitely moved away from this. I nearly put character but some signings like Danny Simpson don't fit this but he worked really hard, didn't cause any trouble here and was well respected and liked by his team mates. He'd also move on from players acting up as quickly as possible.

Pragmatic with style of play and fit this around what he had.

Tried to build a good culture and reward/emphasise hard workers.

I do worry that a lot of the younger managers around don't really value many of these aspects so finding someone like this, at that stage of their career, will be very difficult. Seems to be very much get about getting a team to play a certain way in the hope of landing a job at a bigger club rather than putting down roots and building something. That ends with either one good season but little success afterwards or falling face first and getting the chop. With Nige at least we got progressively better each season during both of his spells.

I'd take him as a DoF/Sporting director, or even something like Academy coordinator if he wanted a slightly less intense role. As much as I love NP I don't think he should come back as manager.

Ideal scenario would be Rudkin out, NP in as DoF with someone like Susan back to support from the exec side whilst Top prepares to sell the club to someone who actually gives a sh*t. But that ain't happening.

Too much has happened since he was last here for it to work. His own health issues, the loss of Shakey, the people currently with too much power.

Nice thought but not practical.

OP was telling everyone how Cifuentes "needed two windows" last weekend now he's floating the idea of a third Pearson stint

Any manager will need two windows not just Cifuentes

Yeah nice idea but don't think it would work.

He'd be under immediate pressure to turn us around and get results. As loved as the man is, people have had enough after Rodgers, Cooper, RVN and now Marti and he'd need to get results fast to avoid the boo's.

He'd still be playing with the same dossers and men who don't even look like footballers with the squad thining even further when those out of contract walk out.

The squad needs a complete re-build and I'm not sure the money is even available for whoever is in charge to do that.

Plus, as others have said, without Shakespeare and Walsh I'm not sure he'd still be able to do it. It didn't go well at Derby or Bristol City.

DoF in charge of player recruitment maybe, but not as manager. It would be horrible to see it not work out for him.
