Muzzy Izzet - every team needs one!

What a player, so versatile long range, headers, penalties and a dynamo in midfield.  So reliable and vastly underrated by England and the media. The type of player that's hard to replace it at all possible.

 

 

However could Jordan James go some way to emulate him or at least come very near?

Was some player. How did we keep him all those years? 
Strange how a bigger club never came in for him.

Jordan James does play in a similar vein.

 

Will take a lot to replicate everything that Izzet gave to the club but also provided in terms of goals and assists.

The response when he signed was Mustafa Who?. Great player for us. Was top midfielder in the country, but Hoddle refused to pick him for England, bearing in mind he sold him and didn’t rate him. No judgement. Rare occasion of everyone loving a player. I went to a stadium tour a few years ago, after we’d won the league . Walshie and Elliott were the hosts. When asked who, if anyone from their era , would get in the league winning team, they both answered immediately, Muzzy. Everyone agreed.

Carlton Palmers England career was over way before Muzzy’s football career began.

Palmer's last game for England was in 1993. By the time Izzet was playing in the Premier League you had Ince, Beckham, Scholes, McManaman and then not long after that Gerrard and Lampard came along. As good as Izzet was (my favourite ever Leicester player and my childhood hero), I think he himself would admit he wasn't quite as good as any of those.

No but he would have offered something different and surely MacManaman and Becks played on the wing so weren’t really rivals. 
Most pundits and many fans didn’t think Gerrard and Lampard were good together.

Was thinking this morning how much Ie always loved a goal scoring central Midfielder and James falls into that category. Muzzy was a hero, always loved King for his goals, KDH too

I was lucky enough to attend a game with him last year, drinks in the pub with my old man. Really nice bloke.

Callum Davidson, Trevor Benjamin, Peter Canero were just some of the names I saw.

We all remember his worldies, but I was interested to see how many of those goals were inside or around the six yard box. He was up with the attack, something I've not seen from our central midfielders for a while ( not consistently).

A few observations from that video..

 

 

1.id forgotten how good Heskey was at passing/ crossing

2. Guppy was by far the best crosser of the ball I have ever seen play for Leicester. No debate.

3. Izzet was very good with his head.

4. we’ve had some brilliant players over the years…

I'd say James is stronger, but Muzzy had a better touch.

Different class to King and KDH though.
