Put it this way, I’d much rather persist with someone like Aluko who will make mistakes and show his inexperience as oppose to the same players that have shown they can’t be trusted.

It was the same with Nelson who had a bad game and probably should’ve given away 3 penalties.

Not sure what I think of Aluko getting his first minutes away at Southampton either. Surely should’ve been given minutes off the bench throughout the season?

Especially because I saw promise in that performance for the most part from Aluko. Multiple managers have persisted with Luke Thomas who makes a 3-4 mistakes a game....every game.

Yes other players could have done more for the 2nd but his part in it was bad.  Having said that, he is a young guy and was thrown in at the deep end so rightly gets cut more slack than the Chuckle Brothers.

After his suspension, he should definitely come back in.  He won't learn if he doesn't play and the season is over so nothing to lose.

He was with Azaz and in a good position but as soon as Azaz got the ball he backed off him giving him the room to have a free shot on goal and score.  If he'd have stayed tight to Azaz, I don't see how he could have gotten a shot off, or squared the ball up.

If that was Faes, he'd have gotten slaughtered.  In fact, against Man Utd at home last season, Faes was indeed roundly criticised for not pressing the ball when Hojlund scored, even though there was another defender in the vicinity.

He's a kid and he will learn and should definitely get another chance.  The second goal and the 2 yellows aside, he looked more capable than Thomas.

This would make sense if Azaz was the only player that Aluko had to consider but he wasnt.

Aluko moved away from Azaz before the pass was made because the passer faked passing to the other attacker behind him.

It was good play from the opposition and there was nothing Aluko could do as he was marking two opposition players. If he sticks tight to Azaz the player behind him is open and scores easily, if he tries to gamble and predict the pass to the other player then that give Azaz space which is what happened.

Either way Aluko was in a losing position, there was no right play there because he was outnumbered. It's hard enough to defend 1v1 but he had 2 players to consider so it was an impossible situation.

Yes - he shouldn't have been introduced in such an important game against a bang in form team with flying wingers. If he'd been played instead of Kristiansen earlier in the season , he'd have been better equipped to cope with last night....

well you can blame MC for that, as he could have brought Bade on during the stoke game after thomas got booked, but did he?

no

cant fully blame the player here when MC had more than enough chances to give him a try/run out before

The mad thing is, there was another first-half sending off for two bookable offences on Tuesday night, with Ronald Araujo being dismissed for Barcelona against Chelsea after a very silly second yellow.

This is a 26-year-old guy who has won two La Liga titles, been in the La Liga team of the season twice and was their captain on the night.

Sometimes these things happen. Aluko is ready, but needs to be blooded properly to get a feeling of the pace of the game at this level. He showed some really nice forward movement and some good tracking and blocking defensively. Get him up to speed and he'll be a real asset, potentially even a good goal threat as well based on his U21 exploits.

As did the mighty Barry Bannon 1st game of the season. Fatawu should have been sent off for his first game against us but the ref was far more lenient with him that day.

It happens. Hes good enough. Straight back in the squad please and give him minute from the first game.

Based on Nelson’s treatment, I can’t imagine Aluko will be given a chance again in the near future. He will be used as a scapegoat by Cifuentes and fans.

It would probably be better to try and get him out on loan in January so he can be playing regularly. Ideally top end of L1 as no doubt we wouldn’t send him to a competitor in this league.

To be fair to Marti he backed Aluko & was positive about him post match.

Worst thing you could do now is straight back in the 21s IMO. Keep him in the squad and stick with him

He also talked up Nelson a lot. Marti has pretty much proven that what he says is not what he does. I also expect the fans to be on his back as many have written him off based on Tuesday.

I agree about the u21’s. But if he is not going to play much for us, a loan to get experience would be the better play.

I’m glad he started to get forward but it didn’t help that they are clearly not working on any sort of wing play. Mav could’ve played him into space a few times, then stood close to Mav who ignored him again. That would’ve freed him or get a return pass in space.

Greedy, undisciplined wingers when a full back actually offers support. Same with Abdul.

Such a poor mistake to rugby tackle like Thomas does. Hopefully it’s something he can learn from rather than a bad habit.

I feel the youngster don’t have any leaders, role models or a manager that can inspire.  Monga started diving and Aluko tackles like Thomas.  Send him to Fuchs in Jan.

That's a brilliant idea. And, if Fuchs succeeds at Newport he can get a lift back when Fuchs becomes City manager next season. 🙂

Even through the Luke tinted glasses Marti must have seen how cack he was tonight. To not bring Aluko on in his place was criminal

Aluko playing means he might get better. Thomas just won’t. The former can only exceed the latter with game-time. No-brainer for me. It’s not like it’s going to cost us promotion!

Can we get Fuchs back as a left back?
