trooky Posted 6 December 2025 Posted 6 December 2025 Certainly don't want to sack Marti whilst Russell Martin is still out of work.

You had to expect Derby to come out and make a game of it. That didn’t worry me in the slightest. It made realise we can defend. Exactly , what was everyone expecting second half , us to come out attacking , never going to happen 2

Not sure if Marti's in the same league, but maybe cut him a bit of slack on the back of this afternoon.

How about both? Win a game and actually dominate with a good performance. Winning a game by hook or crook shows that it was not down to tactics but rather the players deciding to turn up. Individual brilliance won today. 1

Did exactly the same vs Stoke as well. That said, if he grows a backbone and does what he said he'd do with the academy players who's attitude and application will at least give us something to identify with then let's hope he can at least steady the ship here but remain unconvinced. 5

Should have brought Evans on at 60
Aleksz Posted 6 December 2025 Posted 6 December 2025 Showed signs of adapting tactically today and is slowly bombing out the dossers. Needs to put some results together and keep Page, Evans, Monga, Aluko and Nelson in the squad. Won’t hold my breath.

Afcon starts on the 15th December so he can at least be taking Dakas place in the squad and then come on where needed. 2
Number 6 Posted 6 December 2025 Posted 6 December 2025 Some green shoots today but will take more than a very decent 45 to turn opinion around. December is make or break for him. 2

December is make or break for him. That's it really. He's got the ire of the fans because we've played shit football and had runs of poor results. So to turn it round and get fans back onside he needs to do the opposite. A good run of results preferably coupled with good performances, Bristol, Ipswich and QPR upcoming. Win the lot and he's laughing. But he defo needs to be on the positive side in those 3. All 3 of those are above us, so good results could really change the outlook as well as the table.
Gazza M Posted 6 December 2025 Posted 6 December 2025 Needs to follow it up with 3 on Wednesday now in Bristol to get everyone back on side.

I am the first to criticise this lot but they were good today and deserve praise. If we're seriously talking about good chances created then I'd probably avoid a look at the stats and I thought we deserved to win today. The second half was not good, we played an unnecessarily risky game against a crap side.
Dan Posted 6 December 2025 Posted 6 December 2025 I'm surprised how many thought that second half wasn't bad. I'd assume there's some recency bias because of the Sheffield United game which was bizarrely near identical with roles reversed. You don't need to completely surrender all initiative at 3-0 up and not when you've been all over them as well. We have better players than Derby. I thought we risked a very unlikely draw when it should never have been on the cards. Biggest fault was the total lack of attacking threat. This isn't me trying to witch hunt Cifuentes. I'm not expecting some whizz tactician. He did more good than bad today. 1

Did Derby ever look like scoring apart from the odd set piece? Well they hit the bar and Jannick cleared one that looked like it was on it way in so yeah, you must of missed them Edited 6 December 2025 by HankMarvin
FoxesTalker Posted 6 December 2025 Posted 6 December 2025 Hopefully some sort of blueprint has been found after today’s performance and result. This now needs to be followed up though.
Claridge Posted 7 December 2025 Posted 7 December 2025 Got a very inconsistent bunch of players, doesn’t seem that much of a system, but i think it’s the players he has that are as much as a problem as him.Dont see us improving much with a new manager to be honest, so give him until march.Be a waste of time going up apart from the money anyway, we just aren’t good enough to even compete in the prem

We seem to have had a lot of strong first halves before a terrible second and I’m wondering why this is? Are we just unfit or is it simply a confidence issue? I’ve never seen a team so worried about being 3-0 up before

Seems to be an unpopular view but Fatawu is clearly not the same player we had on this league 2 years ago. Perhaps also down to the team dynamic not giving him as much freedom, but I think he’s under-performed (whilst also being one our better performers). If someone like Evan’s can come in and challenge, and I’d love to see more of him, then that can only be a good thing.

Was the perfect time to give him a sniff and show Abdul that he's potentially got some competition
