Sound like a fan of Man City/Arsenal, etc.

This is 100% a you issue.

When done right football is peaks and troughs, otherwise you lose the emotional journey.

No I don’t.

We had as much right to celebrate that title as I would winning a golf comp against a load of blind people, who I myself had blinded.

Agree

Precisely the reason why celebrating winning the Championship the other year was the incorrect thing to do

Wow. You guys have serious issues.

You do realise we are blind too. Right?

Should’ve never have gotten relegated mate.

That’s not sounding like a Man City or Arsenal fan

Why shouldn't we? We deserved it. To say we shouldn't despite evidence sounds EXACTLY like a Man Utd/City outlook.

Issues with what was going on 4 years ago

Issues that were called out by a few on here

Issues that were laughed at by many on here.

Issues that I agree with, but ffs man, hanging on to anger is plain unhealthy mentally.

My question wasn't what would you take now between the two, its how you felt at the time.

I distinctly remember some people being livid that we had 'blown' 4th place and champions league football. I was just wondering if you were one of them?

Context. Throwing away a 14 point lead is poor for any team in any position and at any level.

It was infuriating when we chucked away a large lead the season before we were promoted under Pearson. It was infuriating when we nearly did under Maresca and would be if we were mid table and bombed to relegation. I don’t think Villa would be particularly happy if they finished behind Brighton or Spurs now (14 points ahead of them at New Year).

Context is important and to throw such a lead away is a mental collapse in any case. It’s the same mentality that has seen use then relegated with a side who shouldn’t have been, nearly throw promotion away, not put up a fight last season and now unable to string a couple of wins together in the second tier.

We have never recovered mentally or financially from those collapses and I find it surprising it has always been played down.

Your every word screams anger

At the time I was raging. Screaming from the roof tops to the thick masses who backed Brendan the same way they’re backing Top whilst ignoring all the obvious facts

Not now.

I’m watching another slow motion car crash, but this time I’m watching from the pavement

Well I respect that you believe that. Just take care of yourself.

We’re getting a bit threadbare.

I would make a few changes to the side where we can in this one to give those who have played a lot of minutes recently a rest.

Stolarcyzk

Aluko

Nelson

Okoli
Thomas

Skipp

JJ

Thomas

Monga

Ayew

Ah I see, I wasn’t livid no….. because we were competing and we were playing some exceptional football.

That was a case of the £100m spent by those “big teams” paid off when it needed too, Chelsea for example could throw on someone who probably wasn’t living up to their value, but could produce one or two moments when it mattered to get them over the line, whereas we have 13/14 very strong players, and then the rest were good squad fillers, so there would naturally be an opportunity to slip, plus injuries made it difficult for us.

So I was quite happy with where we were. I’d take finishing 17th in the premier league constantly over this….. the PL maybe corrupt and somewhat overhyped….. but by god it’s a damn site better than this….

Theres nothing remotely nice or pleasurable watching your team struggle against the likes of Preston….

But for me I will maintain until the cows come home, we shouldn’t even be here… we’ve been out here thanks to our useless and incompetent leadership.

Ah!

Regarding we shouldn't be here, I agree. Its a high degree of incompetence to take us from. The advantageous position we had built to this.

@pmcla26

I see you liked this comment.

The anger and rage came from divs like you laughing at our opinions on Rodgers

Then deleting your account when he left

Just don't get why we shouldn't celebrate it. Yes we shouldn't have been down there and more pragmatic and sensible actions, we would not have been,

But that chance went, it happened and the owners were never likely to go off the back of that as is there right,

Harking back to last failures ain't helpful because it cannot be rewritten, and the owners don't share fan sensibility clearly.

Its unlikely they accept it is fully their fault and even if they did they cannot change it either and they probably believe it is their task to fix it,

Its not healthy, let it go as picking this scab does nothing good. .
