Jeez, absolute madness on this thread. Micky Adams did well for us.

I dunno. I was drunk for most of that era, but remember the relegation and downward spiral. Forgot about Craig Levein altogether and Peter Taylor starting the rot.

Adam’s is not even near the top!

Allen, Cifuentes, Souza, Taylor, Levein, RVN. There’s 6 off the top of my head since 2000!

Yea, Cifuentes and RVN are well below him. Forgot about Paulo Sousa altogether.

Joe Hammill, Josh Low, Elvis (ankle) Hammond etc were shite, of that there’s absolutely no doubt. As were Alan Paris, Tony Spearing etc of the turn of the 90s. However they were paid peanuts, cost peanuts and none of them had egos on the pitch.

If you take into account levels of shite combined with how much money they fleeced from the club for the garbage they turn out week after week, and/or how much we paid for them,  this would be the XI I’d pick, every one of them makes me feel sick to my stomach and half of them we are trusting to get us out of the shit this season.

Ward

Choudhury

Matt Mills

Faes
Thomas (c)

Winks

Soumare

Kristiensen

Wise

Ayew
Daka

Billy McKinlay is very very harsh, he was a decent performer.

I’d take a team of McKinlays and Sumerbees now over every single one of the players we’ve got. Came and trained for free when we were in the shit and both helped us that season.

Don't get me wrong, Cifuentes and RVN were bad, but they were also victims of inheriting a squad with major mentality issues.

RVN's time in particular ages better as things go on, winning any games at Premier league level with this squad +El Khannouss +Buonanotte -Fatawu -James was not an easy feat. Especially considering how weak the mentality of the team is and that we were losing every week.

Mark de Vries and Ade Akinbiyi are good candidates up top

de Vries had the turning circle of a cargo ship and he makes Ayew look like Pele

De Vries scored that great goal against Spurs though?

Although if you picked any of this season’s regulars bar Jordan James or the kids you can’t blame anyone, can you?

And for any younger members of the forum, if you think Luke Thomas is bad, and he is, you should have seen Ryan McGivern. Ooh boy.

Why isn’t Robbie Nielsen mentioned?

If I remember, he was really poor to start with but finished quite solid and reliable. Wasn't he a regular up to us finishing in the play offs and losing to Cardiff?
