"If found guilty, West Brom face a points deduction which, according to the EFL's sanctioning guidelines, would be applied this season and potentially mean they drop into the relegation zone."

But with only a couple of weeks to go this season. Will they have time to sort it out then West Bromwich will appeal

I'm so burnt out on football

Same here .... there is far to much politics around football.... it is slowly being destroyed, the passion and love for the clubs and game for the normal non corporate fans will soon be gone

I very much doubt it. WBA probably kick the can down the road until next season. Which I don't blame them if they did.

You just know Bottom and Co are trying to find a way to get this to favour them even though we deserve everything coming to us.

Three clubs having points deductions would be an absolute humiliation for the EFL. It's the sort of shit you'd expect if you went down a rabbit hole and ended up on the Bulgarian 2nd division table.

or the Chinese super League this season, 9 of 16 teams started on negative points

Football feels completely broken

Yet it's never made so much money and attendances are the highest on record.

Of course. The EFL, who deducted us six points, have randomly chosen a team nominally within range (ignoring the two between us and even the one in 19th, only a point further ahead) to drag down to help in our quest to survive.Which is going so well we have won once in 16 games when we need to overhaul two clubs to stay up.

To be honest this will probably push the Albion players and fans on even more, I can see them getting 8/9 points from their last 4 games. They are unbeaten in the last 7.

Has there actually been an official announcement about this yet?

Nothing from the EFL that I can see but west brom have released a statement

West Bromwich Albion acknowledges media reports relating to the club’s compliance with the EFL’s Profitability & Sustainability (P&S) rules.

The club considers that it has fully complied with the P&S rules. The club will continue to co-operate with the EFL’s Club Financial Reporting Unit and looks forward to resolving this matter.

Albion understands the concerns of supporters and thanks fans for their unwavering support of the team, whose success on the pitch during the final four games of the season remains our absolute priority.

It would not be appropriate for the club to comment further at this stage.

What this means is that the matter hasn’t yet reached the stage where a charge has been laid.

Where the CFRU considers there has been a breach of the Rules that cannot be resolved by a registration embargo, it can raise it to an external panel of experts, the Club Financial Review Panel (“CFRP”) for an independent determination. The same panel can also ratify any Agreed Decision between the Club and the CFRU.
