We’ve seen big teams fall into League one and return stronger in the long run - ourselves being a case in point, but also note Sunderland, Ipswich and Birmingham.

Is there any evidence to suggest that was specifically due to relegation to League One, rather than simply a result of adequate to good stewardship of the respective clubs? Birmingham owners are far more ambitious and organised than KPFC for example.

you assume they can get another move and have a career left. Vestegaard is done, this is his last big money contract and he's not gonna give it up.

There's a strong chance the players have relegation clauses, so the wages may drop anyway.

I think there's a chance Vestergaard may get a move to another championship club.

I think it's players like Luke Thomas and Hamza who won't go anywhere.  And I doubt their wages are that high.

It baffles me that people dont understand that money is the biggest factor in all of this. Do you think Vestergaard is going to cut his salary by 1/4, and who is going to take him anyway. He will rinse us for everything he can until his deal expires.

The sad thing is this might even mean loaning players like him with the loaning club only paying a small % of his salary, just so we can get some of it off the books.

Do you know for sure that he doesn't have a relegation clause?

I imagine there is, but i strongly doubt he has something that reduces his salary by 90% if we a relegated to L1. I would put money on whatever relegation clause he has, is still at least 2x what anyone would be willing to pay him in the Championship.

Time will tell, but I honestly think the vast majority of our players think they're WAY above having to play the likes of Leyton Orient and Bromley, and will go to European clubs if they can't get championship moves.

Yer!!! Right!!! Hoffenheim are going to come make an offer for Luke Thomas!!!

even if they did JR would probably turn it down and give him a new contract!

Are there positives to this situation? There must be but I’m struggling to think of any expect the obvious ones like certain contracts coming to an end.

Though I must say I’m looking forward getting stuck into the Football Manager version where we’re in League One and I can rebuild the club 🤣

Non at all.

I know what you are saying about the contracts but unfortunately as I have got blue in the face saying they are completely inadequate and arrogant and will just make more bad recruitment decisions.

Even the ones they get semi right like Jordan James fall through because they haven’t considered relegation to league one was possible even though they knew a six point deduction was coming in February.

Not that the six points are more than likely going to make any difference.

I do wish you all the best in your FM endeavours though and have full faith you will do a better job than Jon Rudkin 😂

Think out of the ones listed most if not all will find a move at a cut price. Vesty and Faes will end up in Europe, could see Reid in the MLS and some sucker will see what Winks did two years ago in the champ and buy into it.

The problem, as has been mentioned before, is that no one will pay these clowns the sort of wages that we are paying. This means that they will probably turn down a move away unless the club pays them a 'golden handshake' to make up the differenece, or close to it. I think it is more likely they will be loaned out with us paying a majority of their wages.

I still don't think they'll stay.  High wages could put us into administration and then they wouldn't get paid at all.

Hamza is on £50k per week

Can you see a Championship club paying 10k for him. For us to match that reduction his relegation clause would have to be 80% ish. Dont believe for one minute he has that.

Maybe I'm a miserable **** but desperately trying to find "positives" when there patently aren't any is weird.

The club is ****ed beyond recognition.

There could be some positives in getting relegated.

1.) The drop in level should mean we can give our youth a proper chance; and our break through youngsters this season will be at a more realistic age profile to properly grow and develop.

2.) Rebuilding on a budget should be easier too. There’s always lots of free agents available at the level.

3.) By relegation happening now (unless something unbelievable happens), we avoid what could have been a long, season after season drawn out decline.

Next year’s Championship season already looks potentially tough; so we might be better off outside of that so we can properly rebuild rather than trying to apply sticking plasters.

4.) We’ve seen big teams fall into League one and return stronger in the long run - ourselves being a case in point, but also note Sunderland, Ipswich and Birmingham.

Compare that to the likes of Bristol City, Preston, Stoke and Swansea, who have just ‘existed’ in the Championship season after season.

5.) New grounds to travel to - hello Bromley! Blackpool away also looks to be on the cards.

Does this make anyone feel any better about the situation?

Seriously.... what do you think 🤔

......someone on here reckons Thomas is on £60k per week. I find that very unlikely, almost laughable.

One positive is that Daka could fulfil his potential and rip up the league next season.  If he gets a run in the team.

I don’t think he will be here, out of contract and probably ends up back in a lesser European league

Out of contract? So available on a free?  Could be just what we need

I think you can only go on a subjective view point.

But Ipswich and to an extent Wrexham show what momentum from a winning campaign can do.

You can also look at it going the other way, where teams have battled against relegation from the Premier League for several seasons and struggle to recapture the winning thread in the Championship - which has always been an ultra competitive league.

I ponder if the ‘Enzo’ season masked how competitive the league is to some fans and drew the idea this season was going to be similar for us - forgetting the fact that we had two huge difference makers in Vardy and KDH in the squad for that season, plus useful supporting casts in the likes of Justin, Ndidi and dare I say it - Faes!

I don't know about Thomas, but Hamza features in several online articles about the 10 highest paid players in the championship.
