It's one thing to play BDR in the number 9 role which he blatantly cannot do, but even in the deeper number 10 position he doesn't excel. He should be nowhere near the starting 11 in any position.

Correct

Because Martin see's Cullen as a number #9 regardless of wether or not we agree. He said it outright, "Cullen is a number 9". So that is two strikers going for 1 spot.

Currently we have 4 senior CB's. One is out for the season, two look to be leaving and one is terrible. So, one (poor) CB going for 2 slots makes it an issue and most definitely no.1 priority position.

And yet he's been playing him in midfield? Sackable offence since he's clearly lost his marbles.

We currently have 4 centre backs (counting Gray) and then Aluko has looked decent there. We've basically got 1 striker and then a bunch of 10's, so we absolutely need a striker above everything else. Not saying we don't need centre backs but as it currently stands, then need is greater up top. CB also a big priority and obviously if we do lose a couple of them, it will overtake the need for a striker

What we "currently" have is really irrelevant if the club know that they will imminently have something different. We ARE getting bids for Souttar and he LOOKS to be off and Faes is being omitted from squads because "he likely won't be here" so he WILL be off which leaves us with 2 CB's, one being a kid and if in your words Bristric is a "punt" then Gray even more so considering he hasn't played mens football.

If he's comfortable receiving the ball, keeping the ball and manipulating his body properly (the opposite of Skipp) then he'd also solve the physicality aspect of that position too, looks an absolute monster 😂

How is it irrelevant. Which stance is factual; what we have now or what we might have? Is the former, so it is currently absolutely more relevant than what might be. We definitely need to be planning for their departures and have players ready to bring in, but since we're operating on the premise of players leaving before they come in, a striker, in this current moment, is what is needed. And if you want to hone in on the fact certain players are a punt and use that as a basis to discount them, we still currently have 3 natural centre backs on the books who have made senior appearances at a higher level. We have 0 strikers who have done that, and since we're discounting Gray and Aluko, we also have no other options up front.

A defensive midfielder and a signing who isn't 4 stone? Not having that link

surely we're not looking at bulky, athletic type players? Doesn't fit the mould

I expect that you've watched him numerous times and done some pretty extensive scouting on him then?

I'm not the one who mentioned players being a punt. You are. You said it first about Bristric, I simply extended it.

At the end of the day, it IS irrelevant what you and I think. The club think that the striker position is NOT a priority. Russel Martin has said so.

I would like us to sign one more but I genuinely think, a striker will be the last to come in, in this window.

Yes I did, I don't think I've denied that? I was just extending your point that it means we should discount those players who are considered as such. That leaves us with 0 strikers and still 3 centre backs. So whilst it's subjective, it's closer to being objective if we say that we need a striker more than a centre back. If we start the transfer window shut today, we'd be shorter then up front than at the back. Okoli or Souttar get injured, and we'd still be able to bring Faes in, whereas Bristic gets injured and we have nobody.

Ultimately, you're right that it's irrelevant what we think is a priority but if Martin is saying a striker isn't, and at the same time is claiming Cullen is a striker whilst deploying him in centre mid whilst playing somebody who isn't a striker up there, I think it's fair to say that the club have absolutely no idea what their priorities are. Doesn't sound like them does it ?

Anyway, I think we both agree that we absolutely do need to actively be looking for some players to come in at centre back and up top, above all others positions.

I just can’t see this being the case … that would be every manager since peak Vardy that’s not wanted to sign a starting striker. That’s too many managers that have ignored our glaring lack of goal scorer to not point the finger upstairs

Well, that's not true - we've bought plenty of strikers to take over from vardy, they've just not been very good.

Anyway, that's not really the point i'm making - the point is that a striker can't be a priority at the moment, but i do believe if a good option came up they would buy them, regardless of what other positions we are focused on.

How can a striker not be the absolute priority? We've got only 1 on the books currently and even he's a total punt at this level

Because that's what Martin has suggested?

Suggested in public. He won't want other clubs (or players) to hold out for a better deal with the knowledge that we are desparate. Mind games, probably.

Saying we are waiting for the right guy etc is a total myth. If that was true we've been waiting for at least 5 years if not longer. Just get another striker in for gods sake. If we had two last season that could have chipped in with 10ish each we would have stayed up.

The real reason is this. Leicester city hate strikers.

10 years actually , shinji was the last striker we purchased who was a success here.

A player that can cover a number of positions is normally used like that because they arent good enough to hold down a single one. I.e Cullen

You've seen one tweet about him saying that he can play as a centre midfielder or a centre back and decided that he's not good enough to play a single position based on absolutely nothing though? haha
