I don't mind gold on some kits, think it's gone okay in some of them over the years. But there's just absolutely no need for it on that away strip. 

 

White would have been enough.

I actually don’t mind the gold, not because I’m a big fan of gold but because it hides the stripes a bit more. 
 

Id prefer it with no stripes but Gold is less pronounced than white
