He'd walk into our side (literally cos he can't run).  But I think starting for Porto is marginally more appealing to him.

I'll be honest, I didn't realise he was at Porto, particularly when Port Vale is more his level.

I've always been impressed with him when he plays for us in pre season. I think he's very steady and reliable.

Martin was tossing water bottles in rage a couple pre season games ago when Wilson Brown tried a cross field pass that didn't come off so maybe he doesn't rate him.

I think he will end up being better for his new club than any centre backs we sign this summer.

You're undying optimism for the youth is admirable but you do know that some of them will be shite don't you?

I don't blindly rate every youngster that is coming through for us if that's what you're saying.

I wasn't alone with being impressed by TWB last summer, I remember him widely getting good reviews alongside the likes of Aluko and Page who are cemented first teamers now.

He's not done much this pre season but has still been pretty solid, was the best player in the second half against Northampton.

I think we have to recognise that we are in league one, our finances are in the toilet and our recent history of recruiting centre backs has been abysmal. I would rather go with someone who I have watched and seems reliable than whoever the club roll the dice on.

Don’t think he’s said anything particularly outlandish there

Me neither but I've yet to see him criticise a young LCFC player, some won't be good enough

Which ones would you say deserve the criticism then?

I have absolutely no idea I don't watch every youth game, I thought Ali was a bit crap in the last pre season friendly.

Here's a thought......... not every experienced player we sign will be worse than the LCFC youth in the same position

I don't see the benefit in me calling out players who are clearly not going to make it with us and who aren't performing in pre season.

In terms of players who have been given a chance I don't think I've ever been overly positive about Silko Thomas or Mcateer in the past for example.

After the way we handled Louis Page after pushing him out for an utterly woeful Joe Aribo (Experienced player) I won’t hold my breath

If we didn't take him to Spain then I assume he's not in MR's plans, in which case TaRa

I wouldn't worry about who is or isn't in Martin's plans.  He won't be here long.

Found it quite weird how he got taken off at half time quite a few times last season at Swindon

Seems to be quite a bit injury prone too - might explain the above... gets taken off whenever he feels a little niggle?

IF we are going to get in 3 new centre backs (assuming Faes, Okoli, Nelson, and Souttar all leave) with someone like Kevon Gray as 4th choice then I don't mind selling Wilson-Brown tbh

I can see Wilson-Brown becoming a bit like Sam Hughes - just mainly around League One

I couldn’t agree more, the club is no longer in a position to stockpile lots of 20. 21, 22 year olds who aren’t of 1st team standard.

It’s good to see the club being ruthless and clearly Russell and his team have made an assessment that he perhaps doesn’t have the attributes or ability for where we have ambitions to be as a club. Truth is Martin will be looking upwards, and if players like Cartwright, Silko Thomas, Richards, Wilson-Brown and any others that are made available / let go as the club believe their ceiling is below our aspirations then it’s absolutely right we move them on, reduce the wage bill and secure a fee that is 100% profit. It’s good to see us being sensible at last.

I just can't see us getting in 6 or so players in over the next few weeks.

I mean looking at our business so far I don't think we can afford it and we probably can't risk our sellable assets until the transfer window closes by which tone they've lost interest in playing for the club again. Like the last 2 - 3 seasons.

Injury record not great last season, and although don’t mind the look of him,

nothing too impressive.

JJ, Ali, BA and hamza enough cover at full back and obviously CB wise we’ve got to get rid of loads of them and buy different ones yet
